does anyone know the breakdown of these mega boxes? I know last year they trimmed the number of ygs you get in all but hobby and retail boxes.
any help is appreciated
Thanks
Jeff

They have a 10 card subset noted under Black Friday 'Blaster' so I'd assume the Mega boxes are considered a blaster.... it'll depend on how many packs are in each box I guess as all Young guns are seeded 1:4.

My local Walmart had two different boxed products, no tins yet. What I would call a "traditional" blaster has one oversized Young Guns and 6 packs with 8 cards in each. The other, which might be the "Mega" box, has 11 packs with 8 cards in each, plus a 94-95 Rookie Die-cut Tribute Bonus Pack, containing three cards. Oddly enough, I got two Young Guns UD Canvas in the six pack blaster box and one (plus a UD Game Jersey) in the Mega box. Also got two regular YGs in the blaster and three from the Mega. Corners look fine on the YGs. Nobody of note though.

Dave.

I don't know about the mega boxes but I bought four blasters with the jumbo YG and they only contained a single young guns in each blaster along with one canvas card in each.

Wal Mart Canada Black Friday sale starting this Friday, although I think they are already available online for this price

I bought a couple of the blasters yesterday..... got them home, then realized they changed up the format. Used to be 8 packs, so two YGs per - now with just 6, it's 1.5 Per (and of course, I did not get one with two, lol).

The sale on the Megaboxes looks good. I saw those, but $55 seemed steep.

They started that last year. They raised the prices and reduced the young guns. It pretty much made series 1 blasters a waste of money. Series 2 was strong enough to hold its own especially with the oversized young guns. You can do one, but not both. Raise the price a little, sure, but don't reduce the young guns knowing full well that they are the only thing holding any value in the retail stuff.

Yup.... and honestly, what does a couple of extra packs cost them? The $31 seemed okay to me, but I was thinking there were 8 packs, so 2 YGs.

The one this this does do for UD's products - it makes the Hobby Boxes at $130 look much better. The last time I bought a LOT of blasters was 2015-16. You could buy three blasters for less than the cost of a box.... you gave up the chance on some of the nicer hits, but it was a great way to chase McDavid, or a YGs set in general. When they went on sale @ Walmart, the deal was even better.

Now.... I would have to spend $124 to get the same number of packs as a hobby box, and the YG ratios mean I will get 4-8. (I'm assuming that about half of the blasters do have a 2nd YG, I just didn't hit one of those).

"Why would I pay an inflated price for a hobby box, to chase my YG set?" - Because now that's a cheaper way to do it, than retail.

Walmart online for the megas was sold out in a couple minutes (ie. started at 9ET). I guess we shouldn't be surprised. So now it's a trip to the local Walmart tomorrow to see if they have them on sale and in stock.

I hit my Walmart at 7:05am this morning. I got to the card aisle just as another guy started loading the mega boxes into his cart. I got the amount I was looking for, but there weren’t any left. I chatted with him on the way to the checkout and he was on his way to a number of other stores in our area.

Good luck to anyone trying to pick some up in person today... I’ve got a feeling it’s too good a deal to last long.

Are people buying them up at the full cost? I didn’t think they went on sale until tomorrow?

If you look at the flyer, the toy section part of the Black Friday sale started today at 7am, and the boxes are listed in the toy section. So no, not full cost - $24.97.

Again - the toy section of the Black Friday sale started today (Thursday) at 7am. It’s right in the flyer. I’m guessing they did it to split up some of the potential people pressure of everything going off at once.

Yes, I get that. There are none left anywhere. It's not even available online. You can search for 2020-21 Upper Deck series 1 Mega Box and nothing shows up. Store shelves are empty as well.

For sure... it's too good of a deal to pass up. My store only had 24 out, and as I stated, there was someone looking to buy them all almost as soon as the store opened. And he had planned to hit others, even telling me he had visited a number of stores the night before and had scouted them out.

It sucks for the casual person trying to pick some up, but when it's easy to make money off of them at this price, I understand why it happens.
