Patrick Roy Collection

Awesome additions.

I cannot seem to win any of the cards that seller has listed for sale. Lots of interest right now it would appear.

Congrats on the wedding!

Thanks Scott!

I've stopped bidding on a lot of his stuff, the prices are just crazy for most of it. Some of it I've seen going 3-4x recent sales. Figure it's best to just wait until some of the less rare cards pop up again.

I received two of the three big ones today, so I figured I'd share those while the third is still en route.

I prefaced these as monster additions earlier, and I should clarify that a bit. My Roy collection and additions are almost exclusively pre-lockout, so these are not shields, multi auto/patch/memorabilia cards, or anything of the such. These are two cards that have been eluding me for years, one of which I only knew existed because of Beckett. We'll start the show with the one:

2002 Upper Deck Pearson Awards
This was a 3 card set only available and distributed to attendees of the annual NHLPA Pearson Awards Banquet. According to Beckett, these were distributed at both the 2001 and 2002 banquets for the players nominated each of those respective years, with most thought to have been thrown out or stashed away, leading to their incredible rarity. This had been sitting on eBay for a while, but was able to work out a deal for this (and the next card):

The second is the whale that I referenced, which was also available through the same seller on eBay. I own probably 7 copies of the Gold version of this card, but don't recall seeing the Platinum pop up, at least not recently. I've been chasing this one for a long time, through the ons and offs of collecting, and finally can add it to my PC. As mentioned, I worked a deal for both of these cards, with this becoming one of the cornerstones of my collection:
1998/99 Black Diamond Winning Formula Platinum /31

I'll post the third addition, which is a game used autographed card, once that one arrives.
