Who will win it all in how many games?

So I guess the Pens should pull out Malone with his broken nose? Or would you be happy with Kronwall punching him in the face after the whistle or giving him a cheap shot when skating past him?

if he's on the ice, i've got no problem with it.

if someone should pick a fight, I expect him to fight.

if he can't play the game / take what might occur, then
he should not be out there.

Somehow, I think you'd be in total disagreement had Steve Downie given Sidney Crosby a two handed slash across his tender ankle and knocked him out of the playoffs....

punches like whitney gave occur all the time in games, you should know
this well from watching all the scrums around the net after the whistle
blows.

2 handed slashes don't occur that often.

Downie? has he ever done that before?

and going after a leg can't end a guys career? absolutely it can.

if he's not recovered from the conc., then he should not be on the ice.

do you agree with that or not?

Broken bones heal, they are not that career threating, sure they take a while longer but when you start messing with a guys head....

Even when a concussion is fully healed, the player is much more likely to get another one.

I don't think he'd be out there if it weren't the playoffs. We all know, more than any other sport, hockey players play through anything this time of year.

So really there could be a half dozen guys on either side with injuries we don't even know about. So I guess this argument is irrelevant this time of year.

This just goes to show how soft the East is right now compaired to the West.

Been there, said that, right on Scott.

I think over time, things will change, but as it stands now it's like watching boys play against men.

It won't change unless the Leafs go the West.

I'm hoping things pick up for the Pens, because this has to be one of the worst finals series I've ever watched in my life.

I hoped for a little more balance in the games, but to be honest, I am kind of digging it for a many reasons, namely I think the Pens need to pay their dues to ascend to the top of the NHL.

People forget Greztky took 5 years to get his first and Lemieux 7. But in the age of mass media if Crosby/The Pens doesn't win in 5 minutes he's regarded as a failure in some circles.

All in due time I say, let the Wings get another, the Pens will get theirs one day.

Your argument isn't whether the scrums or punches to the face happen in the game. It's that players shouldn't be playing with an injury that can be exploited by dirty hits...which happened in this case. In that case, Sid, Malone, and Roberts should be out of the Pens lineup.

you got 1/2 my argument right, players shouldn't be playing with an
injury that can be exploited by dirty hits, unless they are ready to
take those hits without whining about it. Much the reason why injuries
are not disclosed alot of the time.

hits, be they dirty or clean happen in this game, its part of it, it will
happen, always has, always will.

You can't deny that a dirty hit has turned a game around in the past.

Sometimes it is what's needed to get the team going.

So we are justifying dirty hits that can injure on the grounds it might help a team win. Wow, the game and respect level sure have decreased.

Anyone else going to be really ticked off if Chelios doesn't get to play in this series? When (yes I said when) the Wings win this series I think he will ride off into the sunset on top, would be a shame to not see him at least play 1 game in this series.

Mind if I copy the dirty play quote to use next season in case my boys are accused of foul play throughout the season like they were this season.

I didn't hear a lot of whining coming from the Wings post game. If there was, I missed it with Therrien's crying about "obstruction". When the Pens clog up the neutral zone in the playoffs, it's good D. When the Wings do the same to the Pens, it's obstruction...

use the quote all you want, in my view its valid. you never heard me once
say anything about the flyers play.

I never said the whining came from the wings, its coming from the posters here, surely you're familiar with it.

as for Therriens crying, just another tactic to get things to swing his
way, something like calling sid a diver, so when he nearly gets his teeth knocked out, nothing gets called.......;)

Have I whinned thru any of these posts? I didn't think I did. Pretty
simple series so far in my eyes, Pens are watching the Wings skate
around with the puck, as for the other stuff in the games so far,
pretty standard, nothing I didn't see in the pens/flyers matchup.

Now they're up against a team with the total package and they've been embarassed the first two games. If they don't score early at home, you know they're going to start gripping their sticks even tighter and their confidence is going to drop faster than Osgood when he gets bumped.

Or when he's bumping Ryan Malone....

Officiating has been a little overactive in the series so far.

The Penguins are confused right now... the refs are calling them for all the cheap and dirty stuff they got away with all season long.

I'm confused right now.

The Wings are up 2-0 and they're still talking more about Sidney Crosby then the entire Detroit team?

Penguins are the best team in the East but I think any of the last four teams in the West could have beat the Penguins in the Cup finals... the East was weak this year. I say that the Wings keep wrapping up series' away from home and take it in 4 or 6 games!

That's what I'm hoping for anyways... well, I'd prefer them to win it at home where I can see them hoist it, but I honestly think they will win it in Pittsburgh... it's just the way it seems to keep happening for them!

Well, I'll just quote what I predicted before the series started...

East was weak this year and the Wings are proving it! I was at both games and let me tell you that building was electric! There were probably a couple thousand Pens fans there and they were pretty much invisible.

The Roberts "BERTUZZI SUCKER PUNCH" was absolutely ridiculous and anyone who says that stuff is ok is just not a fan of hockey at all, they are blinded by the love of their team. That is never ok... if it was ANY other Red Wings player it still would not be ok. The league better take along hard look at that cuz if they don't suspend Roberts for that, then it's only gonna get worse in Game 3... Datsyuk might have to beat up Roberts again... :p

The Pens can do all the dirty stuff they want to try to take out the Wings players but the long hard truth is, if they don't score a goal, they can't win! I think Sid the Kid has done more with his mouth than he has done on the ice... if you took the effort to possess the puck instead of running his mouth he might get somewhere and actually get a scoring chance in this series.

Looking forward to the Pens getting back to playing hockey and maybe scoring a couple at home. I say they make it close in game 3, but still lose. Maybe 3-2 or 4-2 with an empty netter... I am putting faith in Pittsburgh in that they will leave the games in Detroit behind them and concentrate on winning or scoring at least... if thry let the previous games stay in their head I say they get blown out again on home ice... maybe 4-0 again...

just to be clear, I never said I approve of it or like to see it. What I said
is it's going to happen.

As for sid, running at the mouth. If you're referring to him talking to
the linesman, do you know for SURE what he was saying, or just
speculating? Do no other captains talk to the refs/linesman?

Pens have to play a full 60 minutes of flawless hockey right now to
beat the wings; finish their checks (clean checks) and get into the
mind of the wings that they will be hit hit hit, so maybe they screw
the pass up and the pens then get a break.

Anything less on weds night and fall to 3-0, then you will most likely
see the wings tank one on saturday, so they can win at home.

As am I..

What with Bob Cole getting player's names incorrect and almost tempted to switch on over to NBC.... :rtfm:

I sure would like to hear a Hasek interview and less about 'Sid the Kid'..

As for the Pens playing dirty all year long... Did you watch all 82 games?

Thaks in advance.

My understanding on the Crosby talking to the official was regarding the faceoff situation, and Crosby is 100% correct. It has been shown many times on replay that the linesmen are not waiting for both players to be set before dropping the puck. They are making the Pens get set first, and then while the Wings players were moving their sticks down they were dropping the puck. I would say 80% or higher of the faceoffs in the first two games could have been blown dead as false faceoffs. Even the commentators and intermission speakers were showing and discussing it at length. It is an unfair advantage to make one player get set, and drop the puck while the opposing player is still in his setting motion. I agree 100% with what Crosby was doing there, other teams complained about it in prior series as well, and nothing is being done about it.

Where the heck did this come from? The Pens were dirty all season long??? Show us some proof...

I'm a fan of an Atlantic Division team, I see them all season long. They got away with a lot of stuff during the regular season and in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs, and the refs are calling them on it now.

I'm pretty sure he was asking for a 5on3...
