UPDATE AS OF FEB 9, 2017

So I got the package back today. Surprisingly there were 2 cards in the envelope. I got the 2nd Future Watch back and they let me keep the Mcdavid Parkhurst Red Rookie. I was surprised to see that second card. Not as angry anymore.

Hey All,

I was lucky enough to pull a Connor Mcdavid Future Watch Auto /999. Well..... it was damaged so I sent it back to Upper Deck.

Well, they sent me another one that was even more damaged, so I sent it back again. I have now spent $32 on shipping replacing their mess ups.

Today, I get these in the mail as my replacement for both the damaged card and the money I spent on shipping.



I am very pissed off as the auto jersey sells roughly for $340 and isn't a true rookie. The crappy Parkhurst sells for about $60. The future watch stills sells for $600-700

The damaged future watch would easily sell more than both combined. And so much for reimbursing me for my shipping costs!

Does anyone know someone that can help me?

This has been my most depressing S&T ever!

Mike, sorry to hear I would not like those replacements either. They must not of looked into the value of the cards before sending them to you. Probably thought a connor auto for a connor auto was fair. Try calling and see if you can get a FW?
 
wow twice? thats really bad i agree the replacements arent the best write them again u not happy with what u got.
 
I pulled a McDavid future watch auto and the card was just a little to big to put into a one touch holder. I consulted with some folks about sending the card in for one that was the right size and I was warned that if I sent in my future watch auto, more than likely I would NOT get back the FWA so I kept the card.

Sucks that UD sent those as a replacement.
 
Well here's an update. I sent an email yesterday showing examples of the price disparity and they responded by saying they actually did me a favor and gave $170 extra value. Unreal. I called up and spoke to a rep and supervisor. They couldn't wrap their head around that the future watch is of higher value. I argued for a while with them sounding like robots saying "Beckett value". They claim the one they sent books more than the future watch..... which is BS if it does anyway.

So I asked what my options were and this is them:
1. Keep the cards they sent as they did me a favor sending an extra $170 in book value...... BS

2. Send the cards back they sent and get the damaged future watch back.... but wait, its the future watch that they sent me to replace my damaged one. THE ONE THEY SENT ME IS MORE DAMAGED THAN THE ORIGINAL. They can't find the original.

I buy cases of UD products and tons of boxes. This is my farewell to UD unless they fix this.

What do you guys think I should do?

Just curious, do you have any scans of the damaged McDavid FWA's?

It's really odd that they would send you that is more damaged than the original.
 
Am I the only one who doesn't get that upset over damaged cards? If something has a minor ding or a fuzzy corner shouldn't it be ok? The hobby focuses on grading for rc value, so if you put so much emphasis on grading then why should every card be perfect? If the card was bent, then I agree, but I always have to look at the argument from the other side sometimes to see what's going on

Customer satisfaction has always been one of UD's strong suits in my opinion, are you 100% sure about the bv comparison?
 
This thread is all what's wrong with the hobby and why I don't believe in paying extra for graded new rookies (vintage is a different story).

IMO, that's the gamble you take opening wax - some cards are mint others not. Expecting UD to swap a nr/mt for a mint issue is not something they should be doing. If the card had major production issues then that's a different story...
 
McDavid FW books for $750 US. Ultimate is $800 US and the Parkhurst Red is $120 US, for a total of $920 US. Looks like a difference of plus $170 US book value in your favor.

Justified saleswise.But I believe UD goes by "BV" and not "SV" do they
not?Correct me if I'm wrong.

Upper deck states very clearly that they issues replacements based on Beckett book value at the time. So it would seem to me that your FW is more desirable, but the cards they gave you BV wise exceed the FW.

So I'd have to agree with the others, how bad was the damage to the 1st FW? If not too bad, you should have kept it.
