Anyone else disappointed with 2020-21 UD Series 1?

Now I have only opened a couple of packs so I'm not speaking from experience but it seems you only get about 2 exclusives per case!!! Didn't you use to get 1 per box or is my memory out to lunch? If thats the case they have sure upped the print run lol!!!

They used to fall about 1 per 1.5 boxes, then a couple years later they were to about 1 per 2 or 3 boxes. I pulled 1 out of 7 boxes, so if what you say holds true at 1:6 boxes then this tells me that they made A LOT of Series 1 this year. Expect values to tank.

I mean, McDavid's year in 15-16 was overproduced as well and his value is high, so I don't think that necassarily means that Lafreniere's value will tank (not too, too hard, at least) . It all depends on what kind of player this guy ends up being. As far as the rest of UD1, value was bound to lower eventually, especially once UD1 comes out on ePack / COMC.

Here's some close up pictures of the rounded corners a lot of collectors are pulling.

Note: Card & pics aren't mine, just sharing info.

Then I caught wind of the huge bounty on the High Gloss Lafreniere so I had to give it a whirl.

Speaking of this, who is the collector that's offering the bounty? I heard t was up to $15,000 and the person has 2 in his possession now?

I bought 4 boxes , store allocation, since I did not know you could pre order a case!
I got my 4 boxes and quite happy with the break - ONE LaF YG and YG C/List.
The rest, one UD French version per box AND one variation - Nylander BASE!
AND A Connor ....... as CANVAS YG.

IF you want to hit for the fences, keep ripping HOBBY boxes as the price is already going up on re orders, I would prefer buying Retail boxes which is much cheaper.
The gamble is there to choose BUT I prefer buying singles off the 'bay.
Your choice and money to spend OR ....... ?

LCS $OLD out within 24 hours of the UD1 Hobby for what he could obtain on his PRE order. BY the weekend, his UD1 Retail $OLD out.
I only bought 2 boxes of Retail on Saturday AND after I paid, Fella pulls a LaF YG, go figure!
I get home, open my 2 Retail boxes and BINGO, a LaF Canvas YG.
DONE with UD1 since it's not worth the risk for what's included.
SIX boxes total when I would rip normally 4 - 6 cases, good luck folks!

Just ripped two boxes , and all 6 YGs in both boxes had stupid rounded corners...unbelievable. With this being an issue no one should be buying hobby boxes. Even if you hit a decent YG you run the risk or having a completely valueless box.

I've opened 8 hobby boxes and half of the young guns have rounded corners. Not soft corners, just rounded. Wonder what these corners would grade?

I opened the second of my 2 boxes last night and bingo...YGs with rounded corners again. I sent the pics to UD on twitter and they said to email the pics and info to their customer service department. I can't see myself opening up any more S1 this season.

Here are the YGs:

To my eye, all three 20-21 releases have been a bit more rounded (I opened a case of MVP and OPC). I'm thinking UD made a change in how they cut cards.

Opened 2 mega boxes from walmart last night. Every card except the canvas cards were rounded.

Quick question..... with everyone having the same problem and with upper deck telling people to contact customer service, does anyone else see a huge back log of replacements coming? Postage alone and the replacements certainly seem like its going to cost UD a small fortune!

Just received 10 mega blasters. All the young guns and base cards have their edges curving inwards. The cards feel sharp on the back and the corners are all round.....ugghh... This is really bad. Wonder if UD will do anything? Emailed them.

3 boxes from one case and same story.
1 box from new case and got laffy checklist and French YG in it.
Hit or miss I'm not touching it again til the prices goes back down

My observations.........
Just finished opening the balance of my case of UD Series One Hockey.

Collation Issues... not a single one in my case.

Complete set of Young Guns - & No triplicates in the extras.
No duplicates in any of the inserts. The biggest set - Portraits I was only
missing 2 cards from the 50 card set. Everything else fell along the stated odds for hobby boxes.

Young Guns - not a single one of mine has the 'rounded edge' at all.
All the corners are sharp & I would say that only one had a rough edge on the top of the card. Almost all would be grading worthy.

I had 6 Young Guns Canvas and 2 Young Guns French.

Insert Parallels

I had 1 each of the Predominant Gold, NHL Worldwide Die Cut & Portraits Bronze #/99.
I had 1 Exclusives, 1 High Gloss & 2 Signature Sensations.

I had 5 total Clear cuts:
3 Regular, 1 Young Guns and 1 Die Cut Foundations.

I had 12 Blue Dazzlers and 2 Pink Dazzlers.

I had 8 Game Used Jerseys and 1 Rookie Retrospective Jersey.

I am pretty sure I received EXACTLY what I bought and UD matched the odds stated.

Just my thoughts.

Perhaps, but then how could we explain that its only on the YGs?!?! Because, for me, all the other inserts and base have been fine.

The other thing that I'd be worried about is opening S1 on e-pack. You wouldn't know if your YGs had rounded corners until you shipped them home. So I wonder what UD is planning to do if that happens. Hopefully they can get this fixed before they ship those cards to e-pack/comc.

YGs had a similar issue a few years back when there were roller marks over the cards. I don't think anything happened so that is most likely the same story this time around.

Very nice to hear that. Sounds like you are in the minority in terms of the rounded issue.

Apparently this is not too hot of a product anymore. Beckett pricing came out yesterday and as of today the Young Guns set has lost a total of $77.00 BV. I don't think I have ever seen prices drop in one day. One card is at $300.00, six cards are at $20.00 to $30.00, nine are $10.00 to $20.00, and the remainder (thirty-four) are less than $8.00. Makes those $1000.00 + cases look like a loss.
