Ask Panini (non-redemption related questions)

Clint - a couple of quick questions on Limited.

#1
I bought 8 boxes of this product (still think it may have been the best bang for a buck this year!) and 4 of the boxes had only 7 cards in them. While I realize that missing a card out of a box should not be a big deal - the boxes do only state 8 cards included. However I know from a bunch of message boards that this problem was not uncommon.

Is it worth it to ask CS for help - or am I just being a nitpicker 9 I have been called worse!).

#2
I have been waiting patiently for my Eberle Phenom Materials Spotlight Auto Patch (#/50) to get made and start shipping. Then Monday I see that Panini used some Materials Phenoms Auto Patches as Redemptions at the National last weekend. That gets me a little peeved - that they can give out some signed items as redemptions while all of us that paid and opened product are waiting for ours after 4 months.

What gives???

Thanks for taking the time to this on HI - it rerally is appreciated.

Last year's limited was only supposed to be 7 cards per pack. There was a typo on the boxes.

As far as the Eberle's, those show cards comes from the marketing side of things. They have seperate inventory than we do, and when they decide on show prizes they get them made up in a fairly small amount and in a farily short amount of time. I know that Eberle returned everything, should be coming shortly.

2> We all talked about the awesome shots in Score and Pinnacle here. Which was your favourite?

Not sure if we're ready to release that. Stay tuned.

All just depends on what is available-we'll shoot for Score but it's already being designed.

I loved Pinnacle's photography.

Just got 2 redemptions today ...

MercierLimited.jpg

Any explanation on why they have the NHL and NHLPA logos instead of the team logo ... all of the others I have from the set have the team logo.

Cards are numbered #170/299 (NHLPA) and #276/299 (NHL).

Thanks.
Dave

Still curious about your memorabilia supply since some players are SP's in various patch sets for what seems like no obvious reason. Are you guys getting low on jersey material for any key players? Do you find it challenging to have to compete with Upper Deck, ITG, and other collectors to acquire jerseys, especially for the retired guys?

we mixed it up on the patches; several guys have different versions. I gave Hackler a list a couple of months back with total print runs, should be on the blog. As for Mercier:

185 Justin Mercier NHL Logo 200
185 Justin Mercier Colorado Avalanche 10
185 Justin Mercier NHLPA 150

Not really something I'm able to comment on, for obvious reasons. Just know this, both Al and I are very involved in helping our acquisitions team procure the materials we need/want. That being said, don't read into the fact that someone is an SP. Often that is more about numbers of hits needed and cost of the material rather than supply.

Clint... just curious on the number of parallels planned for Certified this year? Am I looking at another 40 - 50 Fleury cards (base and inserts).

First off, I would like to thank you for taking the time to answer questions from us, the collectors.

Two quick questions:

1) Will there be a checklist released for Score prior to the release?

2) Does Pannini need a Network/System Administrator :D

Lol-Certified is what it is-and that's a parallel rich product. We've mixed it up some for this season but expect to be chasing.

1.) Yes.
2.) Yes, I think so. Check the HR page on our website.

Also, I've caved in to all of this technology and have decided to jump on the Twitter. You can follow me @chall2929 for behind the scenes info you won't get from Hack.

I saw an ebay listing for one of the National base-level redemption cards that listed a print run of 500 for the regular cards, saying that Panini stated it (although it's not marked on the card). I didn't see that documented anywhere (could have just missed it) but was wondering if you could confirm if the 500 print run is correct. Thanks!

Clint, Why did Panini decide not to serial number the Tiger Williams Tough Times Autograph? It is now the only card in a set of 12 that is not serial numbered.

Got an email in to Hackler to find out about this one.

Must have been missed at CS; I don't remember seeing those when they came in. Not a conscious decision.

Do you happen to know which game(s) Stamkos played in with the jersey of this card?

And more of a player related question: which of the athletes actually show genuine enjoyment signing cards during their on location signings? I know Kessel seemed pretty excited during the All-Star signing which was nice to see. Who else enjoys it?

It was from his 2009-10 set 2 white jersey.

"Genuine" enjoyment? Can't say for sure but the one who stands out the most for me was Nick Lidstrom. Very congenial and didn't seem to mind at all to sign and chat.

Would it be reasonable to expect to see some REALLY vintage memorabilia from Panini sometime down the road?

I know your the new guy and all, but it seems as you pick up new sports such as basketball, that slowly over time you've added some really nice vintage memorabilia such as the George Mikin lakers jersey and alike.

I know it's tough stuff to find, let alone the price of that stuff. But I'd love to hear if Panini plans to grab some of that stuff if the chance should arise.

Thanks, Geoff

Can I get the status of the Replacement?

Request: 200446

It's for a Seguin Score Hot Rookies with a bent corner.

It's been 2 months and I've heard nothing.
