Boston/ Toronto rumours/ talks are back...

Good trade for us. I like Kaberle and it's tough to see him go but I'm happy with what we are getting back.

Boston's a lot stronger now.

Ill try hard to temper my excitement, knowing how the B's have been known to lay egss in the playoffs, but...WOOHOO. Nice to see us get a peice we truly need and not a Seidenbery/Kelly, well we needed to do something deal!

Good deal for both sides.

Boston gets the PP quarterback they desparately need and can afford to trade some youth....

the Leafs get some youth they desparately need and a 6'4, 220 lb, playmaking center who was recently drafted in the first round. Looks like he could be a nice compliment to Kessel.

Kaberle was 32 and by the time the Leafs were going to be good again he would have been 34-35 years old so it makes sense from that persepective.

good package of prospects and picks. i think this officially means that the leaf's are throwing in the towel on this season

Not Colborne, he is Boston's best prospect IMO. Big hulking guy that can score in bunches. Why couldn't it be Hamill or someone else?

Oh well, I hope Kabby is the key to going all the way this year because if he doesn't resign they just made a huge mistake. Talk about giving back Toronto all the bragging rights for the Kessel deal. LOL

Decent return especially when everyone knows that Kaberle is unhappy and going to get moved. I think all the injuries to D men in the league certainly helped increase Kaberle's value. This is a good move for the Leafs in getting bigger and younger.

So between Beauchemin, Kaberle and Versteeg the Leafs have now acquired:

- 1st rounder (philly)
- 1st rounder (boston)
- 3rd rounder (philly)
- 4th rounder (ana)
- Joffrey Lupul
- Jack Gardiner (former 1st rounder)
- Joe Colborne (former 1st rounder)
- conditional pick from boston

Salary going out = $11.15M
Salary coming in = $4.25M

Cap savings = $6.9M

They've set themselves up well for the future. Aulie has easily replaced Beauchemin on D, Lupul has easily replaced Versteeg up front. Kaberle will not be easy to replace obviously but we've stockpiled tons of picks/prospects the last 2 weeks and saved $$$.

Looking good

Burke is still probably not done. I wouldn't be surprised to see Giguere going somewhere for a second or 3rd round pick. The cap savings could help bring in a decent player as well. Not sure which big FA are available this off season, should be good.

rumblings are that the leaf's are going to use their multitude of first rounders and new found young talent to pry spezza from the sens..wooooooooot!!

They way Murray has been giving a way players they might not have to give much up to get him..kidding.

Spezza could fit in the big center that Burke wants and Toronto needs. Not sure if I would want Spezza and his big contract. However he is certainly a big talented young player.

I'd certainly take Spezza.

A big center, only 27 years old, has worked wonders in the past with a 'shooter' on his wing, and he's put up 3 straight seasons of 90 points in the past.

Spezza-Kessel would be a great combo. They would need a strong (on the boards), defensive type player with them but the 2 could be really good together.

It has already been said by Murray, this re-build is centerered around Spezza. He's not moving him at all (Let alone to the Leafs)

Other than picking up an offensive dman that the Bruins really needed. They also just created a bigger hole in the Toronto offense.

The worse Toronto does this season the better that Kessel pick looks.

Evened out the Kessel deal a bit as long as they don't plummet down the standings. Give us Brad Richards.

Well so far Burke has burned off 2 years of the Kessel deal without providing him with a centre to get him the puck....shame.

Regardless I think they got a good return for Kaberle who is a FA at the end of the season. If Boston resigns him or makes the finals then the conditional pick becomes a 2nd round pick. The Colborne kid is an added bonus, lets hope he turns out to be as decent addition. Burke is freeing up a ton of salary cap, lets hope he uses it to get someone good.
