The more I think about it the closer I come to the conclusion that Brian Burke is not a very good GM, especially in this new cap era.
If I recall correctly he ended up losing Bryzgalov for nothing. Then (despite what you think of the signing by Lowe) he got sniped by an offer sheet. He had plenty of time to get Penner under contract for a lot less than the Edmonton offer. Then there was the Bertuzzi experiment which resulted in a buyout. And now we have him trying to give Schneider away for nothing so he can sign Selanne.
Granted Niedermayer didn't do him any favours by taking his sweet time and tying Anaheim's hands but Burke just seems a little overrated. I think he belongs in Toronto.
