Champs is Live

Promote the hell out of it... and it's a redemption.

Did you stop to consider that maybe these cards are going to be just a little bit thicker/heavier than a regular patch card and they're doing this in order to prevent pack-searching? I think it's much more along the lines of autos & jerseys from McDonald's being redemptions than "we ran out of stickers" redemptions.

Honestly, if there's an opening to take a shot at UD, people are just a little too eager to take it.

Hopefully those redemptions are just their way of delivering a mint card to people like they do with the octographs. At $99, I think collectors' trust in them is showing.

I'll have to the second the above...

Very well put, BTW.

Then don't promote the doggone thing and imply that it's in the wax when they never had any intention of doing so.

If it's THAT easy to find via weighing packs or boxes even... then they need to re-think what they're doing. Frankly, the whole idea of fossils in hockey product is an idea that the hobby could do without anyway.

While I agree that this may be their reasoning, I would suggest that its more probable that they are doing this because they don't have the stock ready.

To date, card companies are able to put in pucks, autos, plates, and sticks into products. Other products (not in hockey necessarily) have bats, car tires, bikini swatches, bricks and a host of other materials. So far that means they can get vulcanized rubber, ink, metal, wood, fabrics and stone. Upper deck is also highly experienced with the use of a variety of decoys with variable densities and thicknesses and has shown a desire to use them in nearly every product.

The incredible hype and advertising of this product combined with one of the few times they haven't pushed back a release date ad nauseum screams "they aren't ready".

Given the track record, this reads as another ball dropped scenario and not a "let's think about the customer".

What!? No more Chelios cards?

Can't wait to see what this goes for: Tyrannosaurus Rex Tooth
Looks like the hockey end of the product is already selling for nickels.

Redemption list:
Auroch Femur
Wolly Mammoth Femur
Aterian Scraper (What the hell is that?!?! Q must know)
Heatley Auto
Okposo auto
Malkin Auto

These fossils are suppose to be what 3,000 year old history I guess and no one trusts UD for $100 bucks to produce these cards.

DXFlyers - Aterian Scraper - think stone tool used for scraping from... wait for it... the stone age. Aterian is a group of people known for pioneering the bow and arrow. Location is northern Africa. Usually blunt with a sharp edge all the way around except at the handhold
Here are two for 10$ each
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Paleolithic-A...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:4|65:13|39:1|240:1318
A big one for 20$
http://cgi.ebay.com/Big-Paleolithic...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:4|65:13|39:1|240:1318
Or Three smaller ones for 10$, but no bids:

See the groves like a handle near the top.

If these are broken fossils (actually would be broken tools), then I certainly hope that no one trusts UD to get them for $100 bucks since they cost less than 20$ to acquire whole. The smallest are still over 2 inches long. Much too hard to fit in a mini card & they would have to be broken. If these sell for more than... say 25$? then... well...

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
reoddai

Can someone provide info on if the 700 case number is actually correct? If it is, this will be an easy set to "do the math" on. To me, though, that print run seems extremely low.
