Same ol' issues being brought to the forefront here. This hobby became a business a long time ago so what's the point in targeting a guy for trying to make a profit on his cards when 90% of the people in this hobby do the exact same thing?

As far as the cards themselves, some of them look really plain, but others look stunning which seems to be the trend in most products nowadays. Hopefully, this product brings about excitement and it's collectibility maintains more than a month or so where products such as Titanium failed to do so. So far so good!
 
You paid for the product, you received the product is yours, do what you want. That would be like me getting Halo 4 a week early and not playing it until it was released, lol Sike
 
Well,I've dealt with Ryan on here 3 times.Followed the
case break on SCF and everything was cool.To bash the
guy because he busted a case early is both childish and
idiotic.How about this.GROW UP!!!!Like Ryan said earlier.
You wouldn't open the case if you had it already?Get realistic
and I seriously doubt it's greed on Ryan's part listing the cards
on feebay already.There's only 5 more of the Ovy's out there
and pretty sure the Ties are 1/1 so now or later they're gonna
fetch serious coin.Good on ya Ry and just turn a deaf ear to
all the negative crap...
 
At the end of the day should the consumer really be blamed? I would say most of us know that the release date was switched from the 29th to the 31st, but there are some consumers out there that had no idea. Like the gentleman posted above it does say on Panini's website that the release date was the 29th. The case came to his house and he opened it up. Most hobby shops follow the rules and wait till the release date to sell the product. I am sure they all receive the product a day or 2 before the cards actual release date. It is something that is basically controlled using the honour system.

Good on you for opening cases of cards YOU paid for. I didn't pay for it nor did anyone here pay for it, YOU did. No one should judge you and if they do, I'd call it hypocritical because I know I'd do the same thing you did.
 
How can a guy get ripped for buying cards easrly and opening them early??? If it's anyone's fault it's the LCS' since they sold them early. Good on the OP for standing his ground here!

This has been one of the strangest, most misguided threads I've ever read as a member of HI. We're better than this. If there's anybody to blame for this, it certainly isn't the OP. If I'm putting money down as a consumer in a public setting, I don't know why I should be under obligation to have to keep things a secret.

I don't understand why the OP is out of his element to be first to market and set asking prices on his items. There's no comparative data when you're the first one out of the gate, and he's essentially setting the purchasing benchmark. Just because Jim Smith's Crown Royale autograph sold for $10 doesn't mean it's worth $10 in a brand new product either. The OP's really under no obligation to have to play by the law of averages, ever.
 
To everyone giving the OP grief I'll ask one question: If you had been offered a hot product early (with no restrictions), are you really trying to tell me you'd either refuse it or even rip it and wait 2 days before showing it off? Anyone who says yes is full of sh*t
 
I do not fault the OP at all. However, I do fault the LCS. They should not have sold the product before release date. In many other industries selling before release date results in losing your license to sell that brand.

I work in a card store and even if we get the product before release date I can't sell it or even buy it for myself until release day.
 
I really dont see how this can be such debate over a guy paying for something he got a little early.. its not like its a crime buy stuff early it will happen all the time that some can get stuff earlier and some not.. not the end of worldreally.. be nice.

This might win my vote for response of the year......

I haven't been on here for some time now, as I layed off the collecting for a bit. I do lurk and read a bunch of the threads and topics, as it's nice to see how some of the folks on here are doing and enjoy I really enjoy seeing what's new in the hobby.

Now back to the topic.... Are you serious "joecoolio" that it's uncool to open the product and that it's even more uncool to throw it on ebay???? That is actually the funniest thing I have heard in quite some time..

Why on earth wouldn't he open his product he paid for? Who cares when he got it and what he wants to do with it. If the LCS wants to sell him the product early and they are not bothered by selling it early....Why would I worry about it? The rules from UD are sent to the lcs....the distrubutors and so forth. NOT the guy who decides to purchase his product. That's UD's problem with those guys.....not the consumers!!!!

And as for throwing it up on eBay.....give'er!! Get it on there as soon as possible. The money you can make on some these cards, in terms of being the first batch listed to compared to a month later is HUGE. Unless why on earth wouldn't you want to make as much money as you possibly could on cards you don't want for your pc? Why wouldn't he want to roll any profits into cards for his pc or into product he'd open next? It's definitely not your problem when the lcs feels comfortable selling you the cases you bought.....

All I can tell you is there in absolutely nothing wrong with buying a product and doing what you want with it. Throw it on eBay 2 days early... if you get it. It's totally an issue for UD to deal with...not yours!!
If UD has a problem with it let them figure out who you got the cards from and what store they came from and what distributor let them go early.

Heck I'd even take those cards from you and list them early and reap the rewards. Keep what you want for your pc, trade some to some of the good folk here and help build their pc's as well and sell the rest. If you make a few extra bucks and it helps you obtain a few key cards that you may need for your pc....great!! If it helps you make a few extra dollars so that you can break another case a month later...so be it!! Making a few bucks is a RARITY in this hobby and really doesn't happen much at all......

But to make the op feel gulity cause he's doing this is a shame......
 
It's sad to see that a lot of people here think it's ok for people to make as much money as possible and it doesn't really matter what he does with his case or how much he gets for his cards. I agree that he paid for it and the responsibility of him busting the case falls more on the store and it should have held onto it until the official release date, but both parties are simply taking advantage of making as much money as possible and the secondary goal seems to be actually collecting and the hobby which is the major problem here if you ask me.

But how is he taking advantage? His LCS sold it to him early so he has every right to do what he wants with his purchase whether he bought it a day early or a day after release.
