Yes or no? I really hope it is. As I have A LOT of money tied up in them. Reason I ask is in the other ITG thread there's "proof" some of the cards are not Game Worn/Used.

Before someone jumps all over this and starts crying foul. This is a completely separate topic and is not related to the "other ITG thread". Leave it be and let the man have his poll without any trolling going on. I do think it's fine to have a discussion about this. Please behave.

I believe it. I think ITG may have been duped once or twice but that's probably it.

Yeah, I think when you are dealing with that many pieces of memorabilia, you're going to get duped at least a few times and maybe those came out on a few cards, but I think there is little cause to question the legitimacy of ITG memorabilia.

The end of ITG was FUBAR, but ITG and Dr. Price did give many years of excellent service to the hobby, including an unparalleled selection of legitimate game-used pieces.

EDIT: never mind, should have read the other post first.

what proof? I must have missed it when I read the post ( and don't feel like going though the whole thing again).

Dr. Price and his team were beyond compare in getting authentic pieces for their product. All the companies have had their "oops" moments, but I trust in their game used beyond all others.

This is coming over from that other thread. Other than the realization that there's been some oops moments (a Getzlaf stick piece being used for Ovechkin, as an example) I really don't see any reason that we should be questioning the authenticity - any more than we should have questioned it before these revelations.

Most likely there are some cards that ITG has made with fake memorabilia, because they were led to believe they were buying the real thing. I would expect that cases like these are minimal (as minimal as they could be).

First: I respect that folks have brought forward actual evidence to support their claim that ITG isn't using authentic memorabilia. If you're going to mount this argument at all, it has to be in this manner.

HOWEVER. I know for a fact that ITG goes through a hell of a lot of authentication and verification before accepting any piece of memorabilia, especially the vintage stuff. While I accept the claims as grounds for asking questions, I would still caution those folks to reserve judgement until they saw whatever evidence ITG might bring forward to support the authenticity of the piece.

Where due diligence is concerned on authenticating game used memorabilia, ITG was never less than exhaustive. It is still possible that a false piece may have slipped through - just the sheer number of fakes on the market, as well as the market demand for GU - but that would be a vanishingly rare exception.

Despite the discussions taking place in the other thread, and the occasional mistakes that nobody is immune from, overall ITG is still far and away the leader in terms of authentic memorabilia out of the recent hockey manufacturers. My rankings:

1) ITG

Can't agree enough with this statement.

I did really like how most of the time ITG stated what jersey the patch was from. With my PC player lafleur who played for Montreal and New York, a lot of patches had very similar coloring. It was nice knowing where exactly the mem came from. Obviously I was going to pay more for a Montreal piece being more special since that's where he won his cups.. Some of my earlier UD the cup lafleur cards state where the piece is from, but the more current don't. The new ITG used also doesn't say. I wish both would go back to doing that.

I agree, Steve!

And like bwmechtech said.... "Dr. Price and his team were beyond compare in getting authentic pieces for their product. All the companies have had their "oops" moments, but I trust in their game used beyond all others."

A few mistakes were made where a couple players' memorabilia were mixed up, but very few instances over the course of ITG's product run. I attribute those to human error. But as to authenticity....I, too, have the most faith that ITG memorabilia was legit and authentic.
