eBay Authenticity Program for Trading Cards

I have no issue with the authenticity program, IF you could opt out of it. some cards it feels so asinine them authenticating that are obviously real. It makes more sense for vintage cards etc.

All i want is an opt out option.

Yup I don’t like this program at all. Saw some horror stories on many FB groups of damaged cards because of the 3rd party authricators.

Thanks for the input, an opt out option would be really nice but I doubt EBAY will go for that. Now I just need to decide if I want to free it from its acrylic prison.

Just another entity trying to get their hands in the pocket of the trading card hobby because there are a lot of new investors and hobbyists alike. I would not want to send my cards to another person to handle before it's final destination.

It's called a 'One-Touch' for a reason. There is a reason why people handle the cards from the sides only.

It's completely unneccesary program and it's complete garbage in my opinion.

I sold a $350 CAD card recently and did not have to ship it to an authenticator even though the listing stated authenticity guarantee. Wonder if that's optional for the buyer?

Not sure if there are different rules or options for US and Canada? I have two more as a buyer in the US from a US seller and I had no choice, they are going to authentication. I’m guessing the seller sets the option, another way to avoid returns possibly?

I live in the U.S. and a couple of items I won went through the authentication process. After my next item at the threshold didn't, I contacted eBay and was told that the authentication program didn't apply for items coming from out of the country.

This was their exact response: Hi there! Currently, only cards sold through http://eBay.com to a US buyer would be eligible for the Authenticity Guarantee. If the card location is outside the US the card wouldn't qualify at this time. We'd be more than willing to ensure that those who can make changes in the future know that there's interest in expanding the program for international orders though, for sure. Let us know if you have any other questions. We're here to help!

This could be it as I sold the card on eBay.ca going from Canada to USA.

I just had my very first experience with this program. A card I pulled from epack myself, sent to comc, then shipped home, sat in a box for 6 years, now comes back as can't be authenticated. What a joke this is.

I'm happily just about done with the hobby - only some cards left on comc and some inserts Im hoping to sell soon, thats it, Im out.
