Anyone that would rather send something and be uncomfortable rather than protecting themselves...THAT is ludicrous. If the person is serious about the item, the payment method shouldnt matter. if they need additional time to remove money from their paypal account or whatever they need, I would be understanding.

Always look out for #1 and try not to step in #2

If you send it USPS Express Mail, you can add any amount of insurance you want. Insure it for the full amount that he paid. He has to sign for it if sent Express Mail, and with the insurance, you are covered through the USPS. If he files a chargeback through Paypal, fax them a copy of the USPS Express Mail receipt that you get from the PO showing it was accepted and the extra insurance. Then file a claim with the post office letting them know the other party claims they didn't receive it. The PO will check the tracking number, and if he signed for it, they will give you the paperwork to sign for their Mail Fraud Investigation. That should take care of any potential issues if you decide to go through with the transaction. Good luck.

I would suggest registered mail with an AR card - advice of receipt card. He not only has to sign at the PO, but he signs this card which comes back to you. In the event of a potential PP chargeback, that card should come in fairly handy.

I just sent a card registered with sig to Texas with maximum insurance of $1000.
Was told at the local post office no sig with xpress and insurance is max of $1000 either method.Cards actual value was $1400 cdn.

That also brings to discussion the fact that Canada post will not insure collectables throught the mail. Has anyone else heard this and can anyone confirm this?

This is true.I have been shown the wording for my own eyes to read straight from the operations manual.I have often wondered how all these eBay sellers here on HI talk about getting insurance on cards.When I know what it reads and I also know that I cannot.If you can than power too you.But when you need to file a claim and you have too tell them what was in the padded envolope is when I believe it may get a bit slippery.
I truely believe what is wrong with the postal service every where is that all of the workers doing the work are not all trained the same way.There are so many small postal outlet around that have young kids working at them and they receive very little training at all.And if they work a few hours a week than they more than likely do not even take any interest in what is going on.
I am sure if we all took a very similiar package into a 5 different postal outlets we may all get a different story and a different charge.The more frills we want the better the chances are our results will all be different.

Steve: Use the thinnest possible holder and send it via Canada Post registered and say its a paper document. This gets you passed the pesky post office worker. Once its accepted, it always gets delivered and he has to sign. The trick here is not to make the contents too thick! You can also say photos which isnt far from a lie either. Canada Post just 'needs' to hear its documents/paper only! Since it is, tell them that.

Works like a charm. Used it many times... even to send a card out of $800+ value.
