edmonton picks #1 again!!!

Assuming Yakupov goes number one to somebody the Blue Jackets should take Forsberg number two. I think that he's going to be a very good player. Way less risk than Grigorenko.

Even though the Oilers are my other favourite team, pretty disappointed right now. Columbus needs the 1st more then Edmonton.

Columbus could not hit water even if they fell out of a boat.

I felt bad for Columbus but I still think that there are others out there better then yak. I really like Galchenyuk and I hope he stays in the same position as the mock draft has him and that he does in fact go to the Leafs but I really think the Jackets should take a chance with him.

Who says they're taking Yakupov? They certainly don't need him, nor is he the consensus #1 pick among teams. In fact, they'd be stupid to take him. I could see them trading down and picking either Murray (very likely) or Reilly and nabbing a roster player in the trade to boot.

CBJ just can't get a break. I think Edmonton will trade down. I can see CBJ and NYI trying to move up. Habs and Leafs don't really have much to offer. Burke will probably offer Schenn, but I don't think that's enough. Plus Leaf/Edm relations aren't that great.

I'm betting Edmonton either trades the 1st pick, or takes Murray at 1 with a little nudge, nudge, wink, wink from Columbus and somehow Columbus ends up with Yakupov at no 2. If the Oilers take Yakupov it's a waste of the pick, unless they have immediate intent to trade him away. The absolute last thing they need is a player like Yakupov.

If the Oilers do take Yakupov, in a few years the top 6 could look like this:

Eberle Nuge Hall
Yakupov Gagner MPS

That's pretty sick.

But they need to get some d help badly.

Yes but I would rather have them not take Yakupov and improve the D. They have some decent D(prospects) but non of them are number 1 defensemen's imo. Kind of like, not enough Duncan Keith's but to many Brent Seabrook's.

I don't understand why anyone thinks the Oilers need to trade the pick, or draft D, despite the obvious #1 pick being a winger.

Crosby & Malkin co-exist just fine as the top two centers in Pittsburgh, so I think Eberle & Yakupov can likely both be RWs on the same team.

Do they need defence? Yes. They could use better goaltending and more sandpaper too. Their 20th place in goals scored this year is noting to brag about either - they still need more goal scoring.

Take the OBVIOUS best player available, and make other moves to address the holes in the lineup.

Well....They should pick a D or wheover the best D prospect is in a couple months time....but I would honestly be surprised if they didnt just pick the concensus #1 at draft time......for better or for worsre.

I hope they trade down. They don't need the offensive talent as much as the D, and there's some good D available a few spots down (or even Forsberg for that matter). They could make out like bandits if they manage the asset properly in a trade.
