Eichel's Cup Rookie

Make it out of 249. It's not going to be auto'd, so it'll be nothing special (comparatively speaking). OR, strike a deal with Leaf, get it auto'd like the masses would want and limit it to 99 (or...EGAD!!!...LESS!!!).
 
can this happen............... I heard the leaf exclusive with eichel was for 1 year, I could be wrong but its what I heard, only the leaf guys know , but can eichels cup card be autographed patch rookie if ud inserts a mystery auto patch redemption and fulfill the mystery card a year later as being the eichel cup rc auto patch?. we all heard it before that checklist are subject to change
I am not opening a can of worms here I'm just asking if this can happen

Just not sure if the contract that eichel signed stated that echiel can only sign 15 16 product from leaf only or if they have their signing rights for a year
 
I wonder if UD can use a facsimile of an Eichel autograph, and not the real thing? Similar to a silver script type card? Then it could have the same look and feel of the other /99 RPAs. If allowable, how would collectors accept that?
 
Make it out of 249, without the auto it's nothing special, or if's out of 99 make sure it has all crazy patches, something to make it different.

UD confirmed that they can not use a facsimile.
 
This may be a silly question but why would UD *not* have the Eichel Cup rookie as a redemption in this year's product? It's not like they haven't waited a year or two in the past to redeem other ARPs from this product.

And it should be /99 as most have mentioned.
 
Make it /99. Patch only. Don't dim out the area for an auto.

Even non-auto'd it'll be a sweet card that all the Cup set collectors will clamour for and pay big bucks.
 
The agreement Eichel's handlers have with Leaf is a "Multi-year" agreement, and they're not saying how many years it is. My opinion is this is done purposely to prevent what Upper Deck did in 2012 with Andrew Luck after Panini signed him to an exclusive for one year.(inserting a TRADE UPPER DECK redemption that wasn't able to be redeemed until 1 year after the Panini agreement was signed).

The Eichel RPA should be /99.

My favorite dirty idea would be for Upper Deck to buy Eichel autos off the secondary market, and use them as cut autos on cards.
TriStar did it several years ago, getting around an exclusive autograph agreement that Adrian Peterson had signed with Dave & Adams by simply buying 8x10 autographed photos from D&A website, then proceeded to cut the autos off and inserting them as trapped and slabbed autos. Other companies like Historic Autographs and yes, even Leaf have been doing something similar for years in both baseball and entertainment products.

In the end, what will likely happen is no autos for Eichel in 15-16 CUP, but when the Leaf contract does finally expire, Upper Deck will be putting Eichel "THROWBACK" autos in the new products, making "EICHEL TRIBUTES" Cup cards or something like that.
 
I've become a big fan of Panini's passive-aggressive "NO AUTOGRAPH" that've put across cards of rookies they couldn't get auto deals with. I'm thinking UD might even go that route.
 
I say make it /99. Exactly how the others are made. In the future once leafs exclusive is over it would be a great promo to be able to send it in and get signed at a later date. I dunno, just one Idea...but /99 for sure.

Sorry Jeremy and others.

If it is not Autographed it loses the 'allure' of all of the other Cup Rookies behind it.

Best bet is to just not have it .
I know it sounds stupid - but all of the past product were either RAP $#/99, or for lesser RC's (at first) #/249. best not to ruin the product and show your weakness by having a different variable.
 
I'd rather see a base rookie /249. I think a patch only rc would look silly. And a base /99 would compete with the ice /99. Don't change the products just for Eichel. Make him a /249 in Cup and a /299 in Ultimate.
