Gamers...what are you playing right now?

Well I started playing Skyrim months ago and couldn't get into it, I almost sold it but my neighbour told me to tough it out and once I get lots of places to fast travel too and some followers it would be awesome..... I am glad I listed to his advice, My girlfriend on the other hand is not...... I am not sure if I have one at the moment haha. It has been a while since I have seen her and we live in the same house :)

Anyways this weekend I put a good 30 hours into the game. Wow, I have barely scratched the surface of it too.

I started playing Last of Us...and then immediately went back to playing Animal Crossing.

FML...

...though I do have a perfect town rating now if that matters for anything. LOL

Anybody else looking forward to Grand Theft Auto 5?

I enjoyed GTA4 but GTA: San Andreas is still the best entry in the series by far. By all accounts GTA5 looks like San Andreas on steroids and should become the new benchmark for the franchise. If there is one company I have absolute faith in it's Rockstar, they've never let me down with an open-world game.

I think I'll start playing San Andreas again for old time's sake while waiting for the GTA5 release.

I bought Disney Infinity today and I admit I'm not very impressed so far. I was on the fence about buying it, and then figured I could turn it into a review for Best Buy, so it was a worthwhile expense...or so you'd think right?

I haven't played enough to form a sound judgment, but from the time I've spent with it, I kind of feel like this one is going to thrive only off the Disney gimmick and licensing capabilities. Skylanders will be the better gamer's game for this style of title.

Still...I fully expect Infinity to make it worthwhile enough for Disney Interactive to release a next gen version next year.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Donkey Kong Country Returns for the 3DS. Loving the Luigi, the Donkey Kong makes me want to throw my 3DS across the room.

My son's playing that right now.

I'm back to Space Marine. Nothing like some good ol' 40K violence.

Space Marine's probably one of the most underappreciated titles of this gen. The THQ guys were super sulky about it when I chatted them up on it, and said that nobody would give it a chance so it sold way less than they hoped (story of THQ's life.) Disappointing it didn't get a bit more love when it released though. It's just a mindlessly fun melee violence game. It's better than it has every right to be.

Rob > Luigi's Mansion made me feel the way DKC is making you feel. I couldn't get past the 2nd mansion where you fight the 3 ghosts in a circle. I just gave up on it there.

THQ did a great job of capturing the look and feel of the 40k universe. The software is a bit buggy, and pushing 1GB updates doesn't help. The story and gameplay are very linear, and there's other flavour they could have added. If there's anything I'd like to see them do next - either a Heresy setting as a Marine (and there's ample room for nuance there) or a campaign as an Eldar aspect warrior.

I'm playing Injustice Gods Among us for iOS, it's a very addictive game and trying to unlock everything has really consumed me. if anyone out there has a WBid with all the iOS unclocks, I'd be happy to trade for the console unlocks that I've got so far. I've unlocked a bunch of the console stuff but would love to get a prison superman.

That unfortunately might be a while. I heard that Games Workshop was being difficult with the license, and THQ opted not to proceed any further when it didn't sell through that well (and they're out of business now too to boot.) I don't recall Warhammer being one of the franchises/licenses that were sold off, though if THQ still owned it at the time of bankruptcy, it wouldn't surprise me that Games Workshop pulled it out from under the table (instead of letting them sell the rights to another manufacturer) like WWE did with their license.

House Of The Dead: Overkill. Nice rail game (for the Wii noless), nothing much to it but just fun if you just want to blow up some living dead.

Pretty quiet in here considering there are some promising games coming out in the next couple of months. GTA5 is only a few sleeps away, Assassins Creed 4 is due out next month, and November's Watch Dogs looks incredibly innovative. And of course there's the shooters with a new COD game (too mindless for me) but also Battlefield 4 at the end of October I believe. In between all this I have work and my wedding to plan and pay for (mid-October) so hopefully the wife-to-be will be patient with my gaming this fall :D

hopefully it should be a good time of the year to play

can't wait to see how GTA5 is after seeing the past ones

I preordered my GTA V today and will be there on midnight to pick it up....Yes go ahead laugh. As for playing right now I just finished up Castelvania Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live. It was a $3 download and figured what the heck. It was an AWESOME game! Came out in 97 and I never played it until the past few days. Its one of those game where you think you beat it but you really didnt.....There are lots of areas and hidden goods to find and explore that will make your quest through the castles (hint hint) even more fun.

Other then that I have been playing Magic the Gathering, yes again dont laugh. It was a free download on xbox this month and reminded me of my childhood, when I use to play the actual card game. Its was an entertaining game, well worth the free DL but as for paying for it....that could be debatable.

Ill be checking into this thread again on Tuesday/Wednesday to talk about GTA V....If I can find time to do so haha.

There's nothing funny about gaming.

A midnight release is something I haven't been able to experience since literally the only store that sells games in my area is a small Walmart. I have an EB Games about two hours away but no thanks. Depending on my shifts I always pick up the new Assassins Creed game the morning of release but it won't be an option this year. I have to rely on Walmarts "pre-order" system to have my copy waiting for me that evening. The pre-order system at Walmart is a joke, at least at places like GameStop they take your name and allow you to pay off a copy early and guarantee it'll be there waiting for you.

Midnight launches are what bring a lot of gamers together man, it's all good.

I stood out in the freezing cold for an hour and a half to get GTA IV - I preordered online this time so I'm not gonna be there at midnight.

Right now, I've just finished up reviewing NHL 14, and am work helping work through an emergency software somethingorother, but when that's done, I've got to review Wonderful 101 for Wii U for tomorrow or the next day.

From there, hopefully GTA V, but I might be starting on that a couple weeks late since I'm not the one reviewing it, so I'm in no rush to get started.

So I just "started" in on GTA V.....THIS GAME IS AMAZING! That being said, which is common sense by now for this series, it is NOT for kids! I would say honestly at least 16/17 with the amount of drugs/cursing and nudity.

Now that I got that out of the way have I told you this game is AMAZING?!?!?

The design of the map/city is flawless and you cant help but to think at times of how far game has come as at points it looks amazingly realistic! As I am playing the game I cant but help to think to myself that these guys/gals over at rockstar really out did themselves on the production of this game and the 4/5 year wait between GTA IV and V was well worth it. In the game you have the ability to play as a few different characters, whos stories intertwine, and switch between them at any time, even in missions (if they are working the same job). The story line is just beginning to develop and the more and more I play the more I get sucked into it and tell my self one more, meaning mission. The story is just getting better and better by the minute.....its so good that my girlfriend put down her brand new Nicklas Sparks book (which came out today) to see watch what was going on in the game!

The ONLY flaw that I have encountered so far is that in order to play the game you need to have 8GB of free memory!!!! It comes with two disk, one to download the game to your system (which you have to do) and the other you use for the actual game play. Basically you are running two programs at once to make the game run.

I will have more details in the days to follow. Till then as the great Wayne Campbell put it.....GAME ON!!!!
