GDT: Detroit @ Pittsburgh - Jun 4th - Game #4

Sure could tell that the refs had some money on the game, just seemed a like a lot of slashing and whacking and hacking going on out there. We need some of our other stars to start lighting the lamp or we are done.:|

Yeah, the refs were CLEARLY the reason Staal scored that SH goal. The calls were crap both ways (apparently, you can high-stick a guy who's on his knees).

I'll admit that I don't watch much hockey outside of the Habs, but from what I've seen in the playoffs, I'd rather have Abdelkader than Maltby. That guy has been trying all series to start something. It's game 4, the league clearly won't suspsend any of the stars so why bother?

I'm not going to disagree with you. I think Babcock just felt that Abdelkader isn't as good on the wing than he is at center. I'd go with all the kids but that's why I don't coach..:)

Let me ask the Wings fans something. The way the Wings are playing on the PP and the PK do you really want the refs to call penalties??? I for one say nooooooooooo so stop complaining about calls!!!!!!

The only two times you saw Maltby last night were:

1. Taking a sucker shot at Crosby on the bench
2. Cheap shot slash to the back of the legs on Crosby

I guess when you're as worthless a player as he is at this point in his career, you have to do anything you can to get on TV so mom and dad will still believe you play in the NHL.......

All kidding aside, the guy has been a puke for a long time. He's one of the oldest agitators in the league, I'm sure he was a great roll model for guys like Tyson Nash and Jordin Tootoo, only difference is Nash and Tootoo have dropped the gloves and stood up for themselves, unlike Maltby who just cries to the refs and hides behind them.

I know you can't stand Maltby as you complained about Maltby after Crosby gave him a slap to the foot in the handshake at the end of game 1.
I don't think Maltby gives to the Wings what he used to but his "sucker shot" as you call it to the bench or "cheap shot slash" as you called it were no worse than what Crosby did after game 1.
Personally I thought Crosby's act after the "slash" was more disgusting. If Maltby can take Crosby out of his game at all it's a bonus to the Wings. Not saying I agree with the way he does things but he sure seems to tick Sindy off. :)

If point number 2 is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob7kXHhj8eM&feature=player_embedded

That is a dive my friend.

Really? I don't think it's affected Crosby one bit myself other then making him play better, seeing as how the Pens have won two in a row, and Crosby has found the scoresheet. He had the game winner last night, has a goal and two assists the last two games while having to deal with Zetterberg who is an underrated shut down center. And he hasn't taken a penalty the last two games, so not quite sure how Maltby is getting to him exactly....... :D

Dive, embelish, he certainly tried to draw a penalty no doubt. Doesn't take away from the fact that it's a cheap shot by Maltby, anyone who has ever played knows when you want to sucker someone you get them on the back of the leg where there is little to no padding. Doesn't take away from my point, Maltby hasn't done anything except take little cheap shots at Crosby, it isn't working, so why suit up a guy like Maltby when you have Abdelkader just sitting in the press box - Abdelkader has actually done something positive in this series, what has Maltby done the last 5 years besides take rings that his teammates earned for him?

I'm quite happy at the way they have played against Crosby. He may have gotten the game winner but Staal's Shortie was what broke the Wings back. I'll take Crosby diving all day trying to draw a penalty over controlling play like he has against other teams.
You want to talk Malkin dominating play that's differen't!

If the Pens do win this series, I will actually be happy if Malkin wins the MVP. I truly believe he deserves the Conn Smythe

Crosby did dive, I won't defend what he did. In an earlier post I said I didn't like it, and I don't.

But unlike Maltby, who has been a less than average player his entire career who has ridden on the backs of truly great players like Yzerman, Lidstrom and Zetterberg, Crosby brings it every shift. Yes, he still does some foolish junk like the dive he took, but he never takes a shift off.

Even in the games he has been held scoreless, he's been a big factor - hitting, forechecking, and skating like there is no tomorrow.

This is why Zetterberg looked like he has nothing left in the tank...Sid has skated him into the ice, and the effects are now showing.

Points alone do not make a player valuable. Malkin is terrific, and deserves MVP, but let's not start saying Crosby has been shut down. That guy has worked his tail off every shift in this series. Finally the Pens are getting some secondary scoring to match the effort level of the star players.
