House Broken Into - High End Pieces Stolen

L, Sorry to hear it.
Did they target just your cards - or other household items as well??
Perhaps you could put an email together - that contains links to some of these high end
items - and send it to Karvin at Panini and Chris at Upper Deck to possibly forward to their stores that they distribute to??? These items are way to noticeable to be dealt in a large lot and not raise suspicion. Also to the monthly show around you - can't recall the name (Frank's or something).

Hope you get a good outcome.

Bruce

I had the same thoughts. TOo hard to move so many quality cards as a lot without suspicion. I would also check pawn stores, kijiji and craigs list. Thieves are not smart.
Hope it works out for you.

Wow Lionel - sorry to hear about the bad turn of events.

I think Bruce has a good idea - you made lots of friends during your time here, and Chris (Vegaspuck) may be able to help you out as Bruce suggested.

With numbered stuff like that, I don't see how it could make it back to the mainstream market without some sort of trail the police could follow... hopefully they can do it quickly.

Best of luck, and glad to hear you are okay otherwise.

Cory

Thanks guys for all the advice and ideas on next steps. I have called the local card stores in my area and will provide them with a list later on. Just the mass amount of Orrs to flood the market hopefully raises eyebrows, but realistically I am taking these at a loss. Just disappointing as that Orr collection/High End stuff was raised over years.

The hardest part is I can't even adeuately remember what I have besides my "Big Guns"... There are still a ton of "little" cards, at "$50-100" value that I can't even begin to account for. Now the fun part of making a list of the cards, Mac Book Pro, and Ipad to submit to insurance for them to most likely not re-imburse me.

Thanks again all for keeping an eye out and really appreciate the ideas and help. This is why H.I. remains a soft spot in my heart even though I no longer collect. It truly is a brotherhood for life.

I guess if there is a positive is that they did not steal my SPGU Signatures Sticks Set /5, or my Pavelski Cup RC Hoard. And my Xbox 360 was not taken, so at least I still can play Borderlands 2... LOL

I read somewhere that a person who had their mac book stolen was able to get it back with the help of apple software. I found this little piece of info on recovering stolen or missing hardware and it looks like icloud can maybe help. This might be of help

good luck

Heartbreaking. Really sorry to hear about this and hopefully by reaching out we will be able to help you recover some of the collection. All the best, Jeremy

Good to see you posting Lionel, but with it were under different circumstances. I hope the dude gets caught and spends some serious time in the joint!!!

and you get your collection back.

this really sucks I really hate thieves too.
Maybe Jeremy can set up something on the homepage (if its not there already ) about stolen cards
If you can remember more stuff on what got stolen, I will print it out and bring it with me to the expo and keep an eye out, maybe other members can help out too.
I have saved images from this thread and will make note of this and will keep an eye out

Yes this is a very sad read. To be honest, with all the unique pieces stolen (1/1's, serial numbered stuff), I'd find it hard to believe that some of this stuff wouldn't turn up somewhere. I don't know for sure but people probably stole the stuff re-sell it right?

That totally sucks. I hope insurance will cover it. Seems like you have pictures, but I'm sure they'll find some way to rule them invalid. Hopefully the thief is stupid enough to try to sell them somewhere, and to someone who's already been tipped off. That way, it'll be easy catch them and hopefully you get all your stuff back.

like a previous poster said, hopefully you installed the "find iPhone" or whatever it would be called on your iPad, and hopefully you have another i-device that it is linked to. i know that both my iPod touch and iPhone have that app on them.

otherwise, it sucks that your home was violated, and hopefully you can get all your stuff back.

and... i just took a look at the Orr stuff. i would KILL the ppl that took that stuff, especially the Hall/Orr/Picard piece. epic!

as sure as there is **** in a dead cat some of these cards will resurface again,
there is no way in hell that nice cards like this never get shown off to someone or somewhere.

Oh man that really is ****ty to hear. I god damn hate thieves, they are total scum bags.

The Hot Topics section of the new main page has been updated to link straight to this thread. We also added an alert in the ticker text at the top of the page.

Let's all continue to spread the word and see if we can help get to the proper result here.

This is so sad to hear. I've gone through this before myself as well, and it sucks. I hope that whoever did this gets caught, and that your collection, at least in part can be restored.

this sucks man. I hope insurance covers it. I know I got broken into once but I was not lucky enough to have my electronics left. No video games for me. If insurance doesn't cover it, I hope it's because you got your stuff back :). Next thing is try to prevent it from happening again.

Hi Lionel.

I am very sorry to hear about this event and am hoping that everyone affected is ok. While I don't want to diminish what happened, things could have been a lot worse.

I have created a post on my blog and shown off the same cards you have listed in this thread.

The more people that know, the better chance of the cards being recovered. I hope that your cards are found and returned.

I hope that you and anyone else affected are coping well.

That really sucks. I went thru something similar about 15 years ago when my collection of 60's and 70's hockey, including a Orr RC [lowere quality] a complete NM 72 OPC set & 4 Gretzky OPC RCs was taken. I alerted everyone i knew at that time, but nothing ever turned up. Hope you have better luck. You know we will all be looking out for you at local shows and the expo.
