House Broken Into - High End Pieces Stolen

Ouch! Wished I would have seen this thread last month before I shelled out $200 on the Howe/Gretzky SPGU patch 08/35.

The seller I bought it from last month was jagfan4ever from Jacksonville Florida, if theres anything I can do PLMK. In the meantime PM me your address and I'll send you the card back as its rightfully yours, I'll eat the $$$ on this one :( .

Best of luck on receiving the rest of your collection back.

Well, it looks like the cards were listed by DACardWorld (Dave & Adam's) on eBay. My best guess is that they bought a lot and your cards were in it...

You should probably call the store and let them know about the theft. They will probably remove the listings and work with you on the case. Hopefully you can find the thief!

Wow. I would love to be a fly on the wall when Dave+Adams find out they have a whack of hot cards, and not the good kind of hot. Hopefully they are understanding and return what is rightfully yours.

That right there is all class. Really.

Well I just sent the person I bought the Gretzky/Howe off of a message asking if he remembered who/where he had gotten the card from. Will let the board know if I get any answers and will pm lionel any information I can gather.

Matt- Thanks so much, it does mean a lot to me to even get 1 card back into my PC. Let me know what that seller says.

I called DACARD World, sent them an email with the ebay listings that are stolen cards from me and we'll see what they do.

I called the San Jose Police Department as well to see what steps we need to take next..

I will keep you all posted, thanks again to Darren, Eli, Jonathan, and Matt for their part. Any more ideas/advice, please post or send me a pm!
Thanks!
L

I'll be very surprised if Dave and Adams don't cooperate.Curious to see how this process works and glad you got a break in this situation.

Lionel,

I would also call the police department in the New York city that D & A is selling out of - and forward a copy of the San Diego police report to them.
Not sure how it works in New York, but in Michigan D&A would not have a choice but to return the cards to the rightful owner.

Good luck!

Bruce

Hey Guys,

Quick update, I talked to John at DA who handles the Ebay store listings and Brad an account manager this morning and was told to send in my police report, listing as well as my photobucket page link so they can see the scans. I also sent them a link to this thread so they can see it from October 2012. They said this is actually uncommon for them and they are going thru the process just like I am. They seem like a company with integrity but I won't count on anything until the process plays out. I will keep you all posted and if anyone has any ideas/been in this situation before let me know. I am curious what legal rights I have to my stolen property since DA unknowingly purchased stolen goods.
Thanks
L

I would send them an email/letter asking them to end the eBay auctions immediately. The sales arent final until the auctions are completed. Now that they know the items are stolen, they should avoid re-selling them. They owe you a legal duty to not continue with the sales until this situation is cleared up.

I am an attorney in California. If you want to contact me with any questions, send me a PM.

Big Thanks to Derek for the help and legal counsel! Derek is helping me out with some next steps and he's not even going to charge me his normal rate :whatthehell:

MattDMC you are the man.

FuriousD82 class act.

Megatron so glad that some of your cards have shown up and the community is fully behind you.

Wow, some awesome folks in this thread. As a member of several hobby sites, it's this kind of thing that reinforces my belief that HI has the best members by quite a distance.

L,

In Michigan it does not matter how the came into possesion of the 'stolen goods' it only matters that you hold legal claim to those goods. The only difference would be if you had received an insurance settlement for the stolen property - then the Insurance Compnay would hold legal claim.

we have been in contact with Lionel and have taken down all cards he has presented to us at stolen and cancelled transactions with people who have purchased any of these cards. None have left our possession some were package up for shipment today, I was able to pull them. The stolen cards were purchased as a big lot . We are more than happy to assist the police department in this matter and help Lionel!

Great timing! Is this John? I do want to say thanks John and his team at DA online in their help in pulling the cards and working with me thus far in regards to getting this all cleared up.

Would someone at D&A be able to provide more information on who sold the lot and what cards were in the lot? Are there more items from this lot but not yet listed by D&A? There are still a lot of high end items unaccounted for. Please send me a pm if you can provide me further information to this as if possible I would love to trace back to the seller if possible.

In the meantime, I will be working on a email with all my stolen items listed by ebay# and compiling scans from my photo bucket for verification of each item to send to you tonight.

Thanks!
L
