How Did This ITG Card See The Light Of Day?

Likely something that wasn't returned to the company after it was sent out to be signed... then again Theo Fleury was giving out cards that were supposed to be inserted but he never sent them back. Instead he gave them out instead of candy at Halloween

I was offered several of these cards a couple years ago. The story I was told was that there were several sets of unsigned ITG cards from 2001-02 season just sitting around the Lindros family lake house. It was unclear if the cards were just taken or if Lindros actually gave them away, but I have seen images of cards from five autograph sets that Lindros did not return.

These cards were not returned signed and not a part of the set.

This is out and out theft. No if ands or but!

I contacted the seller and asked him to remove the card, he refused.

I could have contacted eBay's VEROS division but I am just to busy making new products.

If Eric Lindros didn't sign and return these cards to us, they remain our property and he has no right to give them away.

If they were acquired by any other route, that is even worse.

I know Upper Deck and Panini don't care about these things but I do.

I am now getting upset enough to contact eBay even thought there is a ton of paperwork I will have to fill out.

TMLfan3, I am sorry for this, as a collector I know how you feel.

I hope no one buys the card and it becomes worthless to the seller.

I saw that listed the other day when I did a Lindros search, and was wondering the same thing? If it isn't suppose to be out there, then I agree it should be removed from sale.

I actually pulled this one back in the day. I'm sure I could have returned for a replacement, but I thought it was nice variation since I already had a signed one.

So what is the real set checklist? I have the regular numbered autos (including the stupid hard to find Peter White, Anson Carter, Jan Hlavc). I have been considering picking up the limited cards but what actually exists?

Hello,

The seller also has a couple other older BAP issued item(s) that are unsigned. Wondering if they were acquired from the same party? I guess they are "unique" oddball items for that hardcore, serious player collector.

Cheers,
Eli:beer:

To make it even worse he sort of throws ITG under the bus in the description section, not cool. I bet it sells to a hard core collector but at a much lower price.

LSOH, what are the other auctions?

I think I will have to contact eBay, I did contact the seller and his answer to me was not satisfactory.

I hate doing this but legitimate collectors should not be subjected to this kind of behavior.

Seems like your issue should be with Lindros for not sending them back and for letting them get out to the public.....not the current seller (who is at least the 2nd person to own these and try to sell them).

I collect model trains as well, and have several factory prototypes - cars that never were produced, or mock-up samples. If I sell them, should the Lionel Train Corporation come after me, or should they be upset with the employee that let those prototypes walk out of the factory years ago?

The same holds true in the recording industry. The RIAA is going after the people who are illegally sharing their songs, not the end users who download them...

I understand your frustration, but I think your efforts to curb this are misdirected. What does Lindros have to say about this?

For what it is worth, from the story I was told these cards sat around for years before changing hands. The seller that approached me in 2012 gave me the impression that the cards recently changed hands.

I've also seen these ones before. I even once came accross someone who had a small stack of these at the Toronto Expo a few years back. I agree that they are nice oddball pieces but nothing more.

Some might disagree with me but when we send a player cards that he has agreed to sign, those cards at all time are the property of In The Game.

If the player decides not to sign the cards for us for whatever reason, that does not make the cards his to do with as he pleases.

In each package of cards we send out is a return FedEx, if the player chooses not to sign the cards, he should return the unsigned cards to us using the return FedEx.

Under NO circumstances are those his cards, none.

So if there are any cards out there that are not signed that originated in this way, they are not the property of the seller, the player or anyone else.

It is bad enough that the player agreed to sign the cards and did not but to then either sell or give away the cards is ridiculous and should not be tolerated.

I said you might not agree with me, but that's how I feel.

I asked the seller to politely remove the auction and he would not, now that I am totally pissed, I will take the time to deal with eBay VEROS program and if the seller has problems with eBay because of it, he was asked to remove the item and would not.

I feel this is necessary to protect collectors who spend their money on legitimately putting their sets together.

I agree, cards like that unsigned should be returned to the company it came from and not surface in the open on ebay and other places.... its like a incomplete card sadly so its good taking actions on it people trying to make a buck on that is wrong..
