Hi!

I've been reading this forum over a year and have done couple of deals here already (thanks to Seth!) but this is my first actual post here. Here's a short introduction about myself and my collecting.

As a young boy I collected hockey cards in mid 90's. When Quebec moved to Denver, I began to follow Avs. I thought Joe Sakic was the coolest player in the game and I started to collect his cards. I've collected his cards ever since but my collecting was many many years in a break. Last year I went to an Expo here in Finland and found a lots of his cards. And I started to get excited with this hobby again. I did little research and found eBay, Hobby Insider, Comc and other collecting sites. Since then I've acquired huge amount of his cards. I've decided to limit my collecting up till 2001, the 90's cards mean most to myself. There's lot of shiny inserts from those years which appeal to my eye :)

It has been fun to try to search those 90's cards and I've found many really nice ones over the past year. Here's some of my favorites from my Sakic collection. Here you go.

I have over 1000 Sakics up till 2001 in my collection. I do have a couple of hundreds newer Sakics as well, but I'm not actively searching those. There's still over 300 cards on my wantlist. As the list gets shorter the challange to find missing cards is getting harder. There's some impossible to find cards on that timeframe but I've thought that /25 and more printed cards could be theoritically possible to find. I'm though interested less than /25 printed cards as well if they happen to pop out somewhere.

I would appreciate any help finding rare 90's Sakic cards. If you have one you are willing to sell, please contact me. One of the my most wanted is the first jersey card from Sakic in Upper Deck 1997-98 #GJ7. I will also post my whole wantlist here in nearfuture.

Thanks for reading and happy collecting!

Welcome to the site Sakke, and thank you for sharing your Sakic collection with us. The Sakic 1997-98 Be a Player ones are very hard to come by, I haven't seen but a few in all my years collecting. I've always wanted to get the Lindros one, but no such luck as of yet. Even that one I've heard there is only a die-cut version in existence? Does the Sakic die-cut version exist for sure? I love the prismatic cards from this set. I have a handful, and always wanted to persue the set some day.

Wow, what a collection! Thanks for showing your sweet collection. My favorite would have to be the 1999-00 BAP Millenium #67.

These. Are. Beautiful.

Loving all of the old school 90's parallels. So hard to choose a favourite!

Your Sakic collection is incredible! Keep up the great work!

Edit:

I hope to see you posting on the forums more now. Online hockey Card forums are the place to be ! :)

That's a very cool collection! Thank you for posting it and sharing some background information as well...love these old school shiny cards..wished ud would bring some of these designs back as a kind of retro subset or something like that!

nice work on the 90s cards! I am also a huge fan of the cards from the 90s. I collect Roy but I will keep an eye out for sakic cards and PM you if I come across any

I have honestly been waiting since 1998-99 to see a card as stunningly shiny as an Atomic Refractor, and I haven't see one yet...

Amazing stuff!

duuude great selection!
the Run for the Cup and Wizards are some of the best from the 90s super hard to find!

Welcome to the site, and thanks for sharing your Sakic cards. I see a lot of familiar cards that I have for my Iginla pc, really love the late 90's cards. Usually I like the shiny cards the best, but my favorite has to be the SPx Top Prospects Winning Materials card with the Quebec memorabilia. Looking forward to seeing your want list.

I was always a huge Sakic fan as well. I love seeing so many of his older really tough to find cards. Thanks for showing them

What excellent taste :) :)

Every rarity there has a great story behind it. And of course, very rare. A lot of those surface for sale like once every 2-5 years. A few I've never seen and I hoard 90's stuff. Glad I could help with a few of those. Keep it going!

Thanks for all the comments! :thanks:

Thanks. I have no further information on existence of the Sakic die-cut version.

Yes, some of those are very very hard to find. I guess that I've had bit of good luck too. Almost everything that was shown here I've managed to find since April 2016. As I said, it was back then I got excited about collecting again. But after that I got carried away. I couldn't stop when got started again :). To find some of those have required little detective work and active searching, but it has been fun to try to track down these cards. Some of them I've found in Finland but most from North-America. One big deal with ex-collector brought me to many super tough ones, that helped a lot. :veryhappy: The search continues, many Sakics still waiting to be found...

I hope there's something new to show soon!

Sakke
