Hi!
I've been reading this forum over a year and have done couple of deals here already (thanks to Seth!) but this is my first actual post here. Here's a short introduction about myself and my collecting.
As a young boy I collected hockey cards in mid 90's. When Quebec moved to Denver, I began to follow Avs. I thought Joe Sakic was the coolest player in the game and I started to collect his cards. I've collected his cards ever since but my collecting was many many years in a break. Last year I went to an Expo here in Finland and found a lots of his cards. And I started to get excited with this hobby again. I did little research and found eBay, Hobby Insider, Comc and other collecting sites. Since then I've acquired huge amount of his cards. I've decided to limit my collecting up till 2001, the 90's cards mean most to myself. There's lot of shiny inserts from those years which appeal to my eye
It has been fun to try to search those 90's cards and I've found many really nice ones over the past year. Here's some of my favorites from my Sakic collection. Here you go.
First autograph cards from Sakic. Be a Player 1997-98, regular and Prismatic version. (Still missing the die-cut version)
One of my favourite inserts, Run for Cup 1996-97.
Back of the Run for Cup 1996-97, numbered 91/100.
Three Zenith cards. 1995-96 Z-Team (love the design), 1996-97 Artist's Proof and 1997-98 Z-Gold.
Back of the Z-Gold, numbered 17/100.
1996-97 Upper Deck Lord Stanley's Heroes. Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals.
Back of the Finals 74/100.
1997-98 Donruss Elite Prime Numbers die-cut 11A and regular 11B (Missing regular 11C. Regular 11A and die-cut 11C are /7).
Donruss Preferred 1997-98, regular, Cut to the Chase and Precious Metals. Looks pretty sweet.
Couple of nice cards from Upper Deck 1997-98. Sixth Sense Wizards and Game Dated Moments Parallel.
Back of the Wizards 75/100.
SPx 1997-98. On top left, DuoView, regular, Gold, Silver, Steel and Bronze. (Missing Grand Finale /50)
Nice trio of 1998-99 Bowman's Best, regular, Refractor and Atomic Refractor.
Back of the Atomic Refractor 71/100.
Be a Player autographs. 1999-00 BAP Millenium #67, 2000-01 BAP Ultimate Memorabilia #28 ja 1998-99 BAP Gold #37.
1999-00 BAP Millenium, #JS28, #N28 ja #E28. (Missing Jersey #J28.)
1998-99 SPx Top Prospects Winning Materials. One of the few with game-used material in Quebec jersey.
Three Upper Deck Jerseys from 2000-01.
1998-99 Black Diamond #23. On the left Quadruple, Triple, Double and Single Diamond versions.
1999-00 Upper Deck MVP #52. On the left regular, Silver Script, Gold Script /100 and Super Script /25.
One of the best inserts from 90's. 1997-98 Pinnacle Totally Certified #50. Platinum Red, Blue and Platinum Gold Mirror /30. (Still missing Platinum Gold /69)
Back of the Mirror Platinum Gold 28/30.
1998-99 Black Diamond Winning Formula Gold and Platinum.
1998-99 UD Choice Starquest, Green, Red, Blue ja Gold.
Back of the Starquest Gold 6/100.
I have over 1000 Sakics up till 2001 in my collection. I do have a couple of hundreds newer Sakics as well, but I'm not actively searching those. There's still over 300 cards on my wantlist. As the list gets shorter the challange to find missing cards is getting harder. There's some impossible to find cards on that timeframe but I've thought that /25 and more printed cards could be theoritically possible to find. I'm though interested less than /25 printed cards as well if they happen to pop out somewhere.
I would appreciate any help finding rare 90's Sakic cards. If you have one you are willing to sell, please contact me. One of the my most wanted is the first jersey card from Sakic in Upper Deck 1997-98 #GJ7. I will also post my whole wantlist here in nearfuture.
Thanks for reading and happy collecting!
