Leaf Replacement Policy... WTF

For what's its worth I think the BGS 8 policy is fair. I mean they obviously can't guarantee a perfect card - think of an auto that gets made, packed, shipped to a player, repacked, shipped back and the packed out in wax. Sent to a hobby store, possibly shipped again, and then opened. That's a lot of hands touching the product and with today's oversize cards an 8 should be fine.

I just opened a pack of 81 OPC and nothing in the pack would grade a 7 so we've come a long way when a company will guarantee an 8 and folks aren't happy.

To the OP - pretty corny to buy a card with obvious damage, try to take advantage of a policy that is obviously designed for pack opened cards by the original owner, and then come on the boards and complain.

Kendall is NOT trying to make any profit on this card ....he is the BIGGEST MA Fleury collector in the world I would assume this was a PC card

Did you know the other companies don't even guarantee an 8?

As technology on cards increases (especially foil), cards are harder and harder to grade high (leading to premiums for grading)..

Other companies dont try to grade from a photo. I only collect hockey so therefore in hockey your only comparison is UD....I bet they try to do something if it was their card...but even if not 8 is a low bar. I mean unless someone was planning on busting it out of the case why buy a mondern day bgs 8....80s or before yes but 2015....no thanks

I will give you this since the card was not pulled by the op
..my 1st post was moot to begin with...if it was pack pulled by the op 8.0 is a low bar for high end product...Just my opinion

Lets not bash either party here, some of the comments are a bit much for this situation. Brian offered to take care of it (when he has no obligation to do so given the circumstances), that should hopefully be enough to end this. I think Leaf has a point on how they handle replacements to make it as fair as possible, and the thing I agree with most in this thread is people have way too high of expectations when it comes to cards "fresh from a pack". You are not guaranteed to get a Pristine BGS 10 grade on every card from a pack, that's the reason cards that grade a 10 demand a premium. I can see certain situations like 05/06 Ultra where a huge majority of the Gold parallels were damaged, or the year with the Young Gun damage issues across the production run, that's an issue from the manufacturing process and warranted some venom. This is a one off situation with extenuating circumstances, no need to trash Leaf over it.

ill throw in my 2 cents on this as well - but ill be short and quick

1. I have no issue with the BGS 8 - i think the whole damage replacement thing is getting very carried away of late - slight ding of corner, slight crease, slight imperfection etc.....not everything is perfect. In any aspect of collecting - cards/toys/comics. BGS 8 is more than acceptable - if you have an issue send it in - it gets less than 8 = replace it, if it gets more = too bad

2. Once its on the secondary market - then you get what you buy
