Made To Order

Could you make some cards with like 5 or 6 jerseys (or patches) called "Champions" and then show 5 or 6 players who were all on the same team that won a stanley cup together?

IE. The Flames 1989? :D

Also a Kiprusoff Vezina winning card. :D I know you had one in Superlative, but I only collect slabbed cards.

Some of the ideas have been great.

Some are interesting but with our licensing issues are not possible.

One that we are working on is is called Ultimate Retrospective.

One design from each of the first nine issues of Ultimate Memorabilia will be repeated and updated.

So with that in mind, what is your favorite design from UM-1 to UM-9.

As always your input is appreciated.

Brian can this be across the different sets as well... Off the top of my head say. UM1 Emblem Attic, UM2 Gloves are off, UM3 Complete Package, UM4 Complete Jersey, UM5 Paper-cuts/memorabilia etc etc. These are an example as licensing issues likely apply

Ultimate Deals:

Chronicle some of the game's biggest trades with a dual auto, dual memorabilia, or dual auto memorabilia card. The set could work well within the current licensing restrictions by using the memorabilia and or auto to take a good chunk of the space of the card and leave room for a headshot. It could also be used Famous Fabrics style with no photos, something like the trade date on a marquee or something with the memorabilia and or auto underneath.

I'd love to own a Yashin for Chara & Spezza multi auto card :D

I always liked these subsets:

BAP Ult 1: Journey (Jersey, Number, Emblem) and the Captain's C with the C-shaped cutout for the patch

BAP Ult 2: 500 Goal Scorers (Emblem)

BAP Ult 4: Complete Jersey (love the design)

ITG Ult 5: Complete Logo (NHL Shield 1/1 card)

ITG Ult 7: Boys Will Be Boys

ITG Ult 9: Stick Rack

200-01 Retro Active
2001-02 Emblem Attic or Waving the Flag with an update. Change it to Passing the Flag since so many of the players from before are now gone and show them with their replacements.
2002-03 Cornerstones
2003-04 Vintage Blades of Steel
2004-05 Autographs - I dont know without see whole body shots this set will look right though so maybe -Ultimate Heroes ten card set of a couple of players - Sakic maybe Lidstrom or Jagr
2005-06 Vintage Lumber
2006-07 Captain C
2007-08 Auto Trifecta
2008-09 Stick Rack

03 Stanley Cup Duels
00 Goalie collection
00 Goalie stick
00 Active 8
02 retro active
made to order.
complete logo

could make the list very very long. :)

Crazy idea time -- but we're thinking outside the box, right?

Call the set "City Foundations." Include a jersey of a prominent player from city, and also a small piece of a brick or concrete or something from a famous/historic skyscraper in the same city. It would be the first attempt to combine architecture and sport on a trading card.

Yes, have to find a way to throw the UM5 Scrapbooks in there with folks that were not in the set...More Complete Logos would be a nice addition, too.

What about a Draft "Cinches & Steals" set. Make it low numbered with patches or emblems. Did all the work for you already :)

Really cool idea! :)

id love to see something like an international pairings card . maybe give me something with a dual card of boedker and eller :) numbered to /50 /9 /1 also a patch variation. who knows. i also like the idea of the top draft picks card that someone had mentioned

1988 Modano 1st - Recchi 67th

Cool idea!

While Recchi has been one heck of a player, I'd go with Rob Blake 70th in 1988 (instead).

Besides, it would make Barrie happy. ;-)

Also a Kiprusoff Vezina winning card. :D I know you had one in Superlative, but I only collect slabbed cards.

I would love to see a Champions set with the previous years cup winners...either GU or autos

All of these ideas got me to thinking about some ideas that may have been tried in the past, but with absolutely awful execution. If done right, like ITG can, I think they would be classic:

- Game Film (I believe Donruss tried this back in the 90's); have a cell of game film of a famous moment along with GU from the player pictured.

- End Boards (thanks for screwing this idea up Fleer!); GU boards from famous stadiums along with GU or AU from iconic players that called it home.

New thoughts...

- International Linemates; maybe this has been done before, but #1 on my gotta have list is the KLM card from Ultimate a few years back. Find the great lines of international play and see what combinations you can immortalize in UMX

- Equipment logos; we have jsy tags, how about the full logo off of a stick (like the E in Easton) or the logo off of a skate, glove, helmet, etc? I know that these type of choice cuts show up randomly in GU sets, but a set that offered full 1/1's like this?

- Puck marks; I like GU pucks, so how about some GU pucks (with their provenance noted on the COA on the back) along with corresponding GU or AU of a player involved in that particular game/event?

- World Junior Champions; UD did a non-GU insert set on WJC dominators years ago, so why not pull some famous folk that make their name in WJC play and put an AU and GU combined on a card (Pavel Bure comes to mind)?

Sets to dust off from the past 9 UM efforts for UMX:

- 500 Goal Scorers (II)
- Magnificent (I)
- Calder Candidates (III, I think)
- Stickrack (IIV...? The one with three players on it)
- Lumbergraphs

Just a few random ideas to complement the already provided gems from the other members (especially the expansion year idea). Thanks for reaching out for our input! :)

While there are a million ideals out there. I'd like to get an auto card of a retired player at home, sitting at the kitchen table signing one of the cards.....magic in the making.
Frozen pond always has pictures of players signing stuff...... come out with a card which shows them at home, chill'in with a beer and signing stuff for the fans.

That Cherry/Maclean card would rock, or one of the famous Gilmour Cherry kiss

Someone suggested this to me, and I don't recall who (you can confirm in the thread here), but I really like the idea - a Made to Order Emblem piece, in the UM9 style. i.e. if I get a MTO Emblem, I can choose one of a group of players and ITG would make a specific emblem card for me. So I send in, ask ITG to make one of King Richard of the old skate logo from the shoulder, and they cut it and create the nicest piece they can. Would be very cool for player collectors who may not have their guy in the UM series usually, to get a VERY cool card :)

Kudos to whomever told me about the idea. Make it so. :)
