I do not actively collect Curtis Joseph anymore but I do still browse eBay from time to time looking at the newest cards and also searching for cards from my wantlist of Joseph that span his active playing career (89-09). I noticed a few of the new ITG Used memorabilia cards featuring Curtis Joseph do not have the swatch matching to something he ever wore. Take for example these two cards:

Both of these have a St.Louis Blues memorabilia patch, but there is no way Joseph ever wore the memorabilia that is on this card. The colours and the materials of these swatches are indicative of Blues jersey from years before Joseph ever played for the Blues (89-95). These swatches look to be from the 70's or worse they are from some kind of throwback jersey. As a note, Joseph never wore a throwback Blues jersey during a game when he was with the team.

I feel like this is possibly a common occurrence and not just with Curtis Joseph cards. I know things like this have happened before in the hobby, but I do not like seeing this. Anyone else noticed this sort of thing with new ITG products?

Goodness. I went here to the NHL Uniform Database and couldn't match that to any CuJo year. The lack of red is a dead giveaway.

I would love to hear an explanation if you receive one. ITG and Leaf both seem to take a bit of pride in the provenance of their jerseys, so I'm very interested in what might have happened here.

I know ITG had a Glenn Hall Blues jersey that would match up to the pieces on this Cujo, but that's a stretch to think Leaf mixed those players up. Leaf took the ITG inventory as is/labeled, so it may be a mix up from ITG that Leaf had no way of verifying?

Not from ITGU but I'm pretty sure that in Genesis, Samuel Girard pieces were of Val D'Or Foreurs jersey (green/gold) instead of Shawinigan (blue/yellow) so they could have been mixed with Julien Gauthier stuff.

Does ITG/Leaf have a Liut jersey?

Some of the other Joseph pieces look odd too. Perhaps swatches from Elliott's Ottawa or a CHL Prospects jersey?

Here are some odd Rick Nash cards:

Hopefully the Leaf guys will address this thread ASAP. Transparency is the key to any negative story. Leaf should confirm the jersey used for Joseph, and if possible, provide pics to the collectors. The ITG brand has survived because of their GU claims. To lose the legitimacy of that brand strength will be another blow against Leaf. Unlike other companies where this sort of incident is common and sadly accepted as the norm, I hope Leaf will nip this in the bud. Don't let rumours and accusations linger for months. How they address this inquiry will speak volumes going forward.

As for the popcorn eating spectators, there is absolutely no need to be disrespectful towards Connie and her thread. People wonder why there are fewer Hobby discussion threads? Perhaps because posters can look forward to "Nom Nom" and "Horse beating" comments if the thread doesn't meet the appropriate fun factor of the moral minority. Shameful.

Could the Red/Black/White Joseph pieces come from his Team Canada jersey? Just throwing that option out there. As it looks like it may match. But again, this is just a guess.

Cheers,

I think the patch on the triple could very well be a Team Canada World Championship piece.

All the pieces are of the players listed. They don't always match the image from the player, but were worn by the player. All of these assets were acquired during the ITG switch to Leaf. When I get into the office I will provide all the teams. I do know the Nash is a junior jersey as is the Elliot. I will provide all others tomorrow fellas. This is not an occurrence with Leaf that we use jerseys not attributed to the player. We mix in different jerseys that players have worn to get the best patches available from that player.

Another blow against Leaf?
