OPC Platinum Reviews??

Value aside it's very obvious that this product was made along time ago and they sat on it for some reason. Kaprizov's pictures are 100% photoshoped, Cozens has his picture from the previous preseason (old navy jersey and different jersey number), and Stutzle has his name spelled Stuetzle meaning the product was made before Series 2. Kinda lame if you ask me.

Just the autos are photoshopped and that’s because they had to make them and send them to the players to autograph IP then send back, Allure just gives you a crappy sticker. The main Marquee Rookies are all perfectly fine and updated. I gave UD HELL for months about these photoshopped pics but I understand why the autos are jacked photos and messed up because they’re all on card autos.

I can't remember which product it was, but there was another Stutzle card that had a Dallas Star player in the background. Stutzle (up until this season) has never played the Stars. It was obviously another Senator player from a previous season with Stutzle's head photoshopped in.

I'm pretty sure that was Allure. Unlike OPC Platinum, Allure has no excuse since it was released long after Series 2 and used sticker autos

I’m not big on epack but I feel that Platinum does better on epack than with actual physical cards. The fact that you can combine 10 base or rookies to get a color wheel which are actually worth some money makes it better bang for your buck.

Apparently 2nd wave pricing for Platinum is here...$160-$170 per box. Have stores already exhausted their initial supply?? Is Platinum THAT popular at current prices?? Or, are we just to assume now that ALL products will go through 3-4 waves of price increases??

Curious to know what your breaking point is for a box of current Platinum?

My answer is: $100!!! LOL...obviously won't be opening anymore of this product.

I promised myself I would not open anymore, especially at these ridiculous prices.

Another product with which I've struggled with box prices is this year's SPGU. I recently opened 3 boxes at $220 per. Best hit: Donskoi net cord accompanied by John Leclair Auto....so $660 worth of boxes and literally $100 value.

I keep trying to give Upper Deck the benefit of the doubt but it's getting ridiculous.
I'd love to continue supporting them but boy oh boy they make it more and more difficult to be loyal consumers. I know I'm not the only one!

I think physical hobby boxes dry up faster now that half the release is held for E-pack. Gone are the days when less popular products get discounted over time.

That's just plain silly and shows how much UD is mailing it in these days. No competition and a collecting base that will buy anything = junk output.

I have a sealed hobby case of 2015-16 platinum....Hopefully its got the same auto collation of multiple McDavid autos ;)

Think I should open it?

With how much those boxes are going for right now, I'd honestly hold on to it. Unless you don't need the money, then I need a ton of parallels and autos for my sets! :D

I remember busting cases of that stuff for less than $900. Now that's how much a BOX is going for. Crazy.

Saw Wally's World has 20-21 OPC Platinum Blaster on sale for $15.96 online only. At that price point might be worth a shot at some parallels.

It’s their Black Friday promotion. It’s in stores today too. I wonder if it’ll get as much action from potential resellers as the series 1 blasters they’ve done in the past.

I did a box and it was pretty colorful. I love the design of this years parallels and autos which is why I tried a box.

I do not think a case/box of 15-16 Platinum will go down. A lot of collector's are moving from basketball, baseball and football and looking at rookies in hockey as an investment. I would think players like McDavid and Ovechkin will go up more and more as they keep setting new records. It will also drive up prices of other main rookies.

Sitting on unopened cases that COULD yield a top rookie like McDavid will always be an investment. It will be the same as unopened boxes of 79-80 OPC for the GRetzky rookie. Only thing is at this current price of 15-16 OPCP people will still buy to rip it. Not many people buying 79-80 opc and ripping it, they're just sitting on it as an investment. So I would think over time 15-16 OPCP boxes/cases will be the same as prices continue to climb.

My box had a rainbow rookie of kaprizov, cosmic parallel of sharinghanov(devils prospect), aquamarine of wheeler and pinks of both robertson rookies and my auto was a sharks rookie. guess my box was above average??
