okee... need some opinions here. agreed to a transaction on 8/6 (a saturday), i sent out 8/8 due to my work schedule... got the other guy's end today... with a postage purchase date of 8/17 and the customs form was dated 8/18. the other guy didn't PM me to tell me about any delays for any reason... just seems that sending a package out 11-12 days (depending on which date you wanna go by) after it was agreed upon seems a bit much.

not that i am or ever was planning on leaving a negative, but is a neutral in order?

also, i suppose i should contact the other guy and inquire about the delay... may have had some unforseen family issues pop up or something of that nature.

but what is your first impression/gut feeling as what to do?

the meaning of this escapes me, and i'm not one of the young ones on here, either...

They don't matter.

[generally]

If someone on eBay has 1,000,000 feedback and someone has 2,000 - what does that mean? Nothing.

On HI, what's the difference between any two people with more than 25? Probably VERY little if anything.

Feedback is to the hobby as the plus-minus is to hockey. A generally meaningless statistic unless you need to spin something in your favour.

I would just ask them why they waited until then to ship, and why they didn't communicate with you up front about it. It upsets me a bit when people do this, I always think they just wanted to wait until they received my end before shipping theirs.

Also depends on who it is, there are some members here where you should just know going in they take their sweet time shipping.

But if someone has Negatives and Neutrals, that DOES matter.

Personally, if I where in your shoes, I would inquire as to why there was the delay in shipping. If it is reasonable, then leave positive. If it is a silly excuse like "Oh, i forgot" or "I only ship once a month" then leave a neutral. Seeing as you received you end of the deal (although late) it shouldn't warrant a Negative.

Hope this helps!

I'd have a hard time giving him a negative since you got the card. I'd lean towards the same answer for leaving a neutral. Best bet might be give him a positive since you did get your end but put slow shipping in the message.

You got the card and it sounds like it was not an unreasonable time, even if the other party was a bit slow sending. I would say positive, but maybe a comment about shipping time. There are bigger tragedies in this world to worry about other than someone not getting to the PO for a week.

I'd talk to the guy in private and just explain that all it takes is a little communication when life gets in the way of a trade. Someone not as nice as you might drop the feedback hammer and hinder their reputation. Likely an innocent enough explanation for things and perhaps it is a chance to turn a less consciencious trader into an excellent one.

The card arrived and there was no issues besides a slight delay. Maybe he got delayed for a legit reason, I don't see the need for anything but a positive. If it makes you feel better put in the comment section of the feedback card arrived but shipped 11 days after deal complete. Really is 11 days all that bad??? Maybe I am mellowing out in my middle age but I think this is really a non issue.

I just received a negative on ebay and it was IMO unwarranted but the other guy thought it was. I had 900 positive and NO 0 negatives now my feedback is 98.8 due to this guy overreacting about nothing. Instead of just asking a simple question he jumped the gun put in a negative and then refused to remove it even though he was fine afterwards. IMO it ruined my selling account after having 900 transactions and 100% feedback.

Contact him, depending on reason for slow shipping -- and as long as you get the card leave a positive with a poor rating on the DSRs for shipping.

Meh, as long as I get the card that's all the matters. Sometimes I have a delay shipping things as I work everyday including Saturday while the PO is open. The closest PO to my work is about a 20 minute drive while on lunch. So there is occasionally delays to get to the PO, especially if I'm making another deal and can't really make two trips in a week.

Of course that's only to Canadian traders, US traders I can throw some stamps on it and be done, unless I need some tracking.

You received the card. Leave a positive. Sometime life gets in the way of the hobby.

I have to agree with those who suggested leaving a positive. You got the card, and while 11 days is longer than it should take to get to the post office, it isn't long enough to warrant less than positive feedback IMO.

Sounds like he may have waited to get your card before sending out from his side. I'd question him but still leave a positive as you got your card.

As for the Whose Line thing, maybe that's how some of you roll but if I look at your feedback and see a bunch of negatives, we won't be dealing. Sorry.

On CnC last year, I started a trade thread on 8/17 with Missiean1. I told him he must send first due to his lack of feedback. He agreed. A month went by and I sent him a PM and posted in the trade thread that I hadn't seen anything. I wasn't worried b/c it's not a card I was super excited about or anything and I know mail can be slow. He sent me a PM back 9/20 saying he sent the card and didn't know what happened. I got the card and it was post dated 10/4.

So there is much worse out there.
