From what I have seen - and have bought a few times - the "Best of Hockey" stamp is a MAJOR detractor from value. This was entirely predictable and why I thought it was a bad idea when announced. I bought a Sakic Gold 1/1 from a fellow board member for $30! Without the stamp, that's at least a $100 card, probably $150. Yes, he gave me a good deal on it, but I doubt he would have gotten more than $50 in any case.
Plus, we don't even know really if that was the 1/1 that was inserted into packs or the 1/1 (that may have been produced once, twice, more times? who knows?) that was held for customer service or to be used in a redemption program that never materialized, or, or, or...you get the point.
For me, the bottom line has come down to this: I assume that any 1/1 from pre-Leaf ITG might in fact be one-of-several, which may dictate how much I am willing to pay for it, especially in the context of having an eye towards future resale value. If all I want is a piece of that player's memorabilia on a card, I'll pay whatever it's personally worth to me without regard to its (dubious) scarcity. I believe others are doing the same; for whatever reason, that "Best of Hockey" stamp is a definite detriment.
