Ovechkin Sits In On Rangers' Practice; Gets Asked To Leave

For all you guys, Crosby isn't in the media half as much as #8 so I'm not sure where you get that from? And when he is, it's not about stupidity, its about the game! Unlike your idol, who loves the attention surrounding his childish antics. He is on his way to dethroning Avery, you can even see the respect he is getting from his peers and even from his fans. (a few on these boards have even started to realize).

You know who else was always "smiling and having fun" and in the media alot loving it,......Dennis Rodman and now he's on some stupid reality show once again trying to be in the spotlight.

Another thing, why are you guys so stuck on one guy being the face?? Can't we have a bunch of faces? Or is that not good with you guys?

Im going to have to agree with this post. Although he has a long way to catch up to Avery. he sure is climbing up the ladder though.

so what would you all think of Avery sitting in for the Caps practice next?

If you're describing the same situation - Avery sits in, is asked to leave, and does so without fuss - then my response is the same: So what?

If, however, Avery showed that....agitated side of himself again, then I'd probably insist he needs a prescription strength beating.

I suggest that's a fair approach.

I'm kinda shocked some of you guys want this as the only "face" of the NHL. That's exactly what the NHL is looking for in a leader

I don't understand these face of the nhl/better player debates.

Ovechkin is amazing.

Crosby is amazing.

That's all their is to it. Both great players who get paid an exorbitant amount of money to play a game we all love. Ovechkin scores more, Crosby assists more. Ovechkin smiles more, Crosby's cards are worth more.

Like really,

Ketchup Chips are amazing.

Nacho Cheese Doritos are amazing.

I don't go around arguing with people about which chip should be in my mouth.

Yeesh, talk about a rough picture.....haha, thanks for the laugh

His head looks pretty photoshopped in to me.
Look at the rough chin, where his head meets the girls hair..still funny though.

Wow, I guess he's the only hockey player to ever have a drink and entertain some females, what a horrible human being he is....

I'd rather have that then some guy who used to be the biggest name in the game, who has his wife take the blame for his gambling instead of manning up to it and accepting the blame. What a guy, has to have his wife take the heat for him.

It's funny when someone who loves a team that harbors the biggest tool in the NHl calls out a kid in his early 20's for having a good time.

AO is an attention whore and has a great sense of humor. And Crosby is okay in my book too - afterall, he does collect Ovechkin goal pucks.

And if Avery left quietly but then said to the media 'I just did it to tick them off'? Something tells me people would be rabid. Or at the very least - they would have if Avery had done it first.

Ovechkin's a great player, there's absolutely no denying that, but he's almost as big a sideshow as he is talented. Personally - its not my cup of tea. I'd rather see him perform on the ice than off it.

Honestly? Sounds like this was handled quite reasonably. Tortorella's ALSO an attention whore - loves the spotlight, he does - so his reaction doesn't surprise me either.

Ovechkin was sitting in to learn about the Rangers. The Rangers - rightly - complained and asked him to leave. He did. What's the problem?

You summed up the situation nicely.

But here is the problem, from a fan (that would be me) of his counterpart.

While my guy can do no right, Ovechkin to many can do no wrong.

I will be the first guy to say what my guy did in a couple of his fights this year was disappointing at best, cowardly at worst. I still think he has it in him to be the real face of the game, and be the best player in the NHL. He needs to work on his shot for that to happen. He's not the whiner people call him (uneducated fans cling to this), he's just a kid still learning the game. He has some work to do.

To me, that's being objective. It is something Ovy's fans (maybe up until very recently) do not possess. He sits in on another team's practice (a no-no), and then makes a few wise-a** comments to the media (a la Avery), and people defend it, and in fact say how good it is for "the league".

That's why I have a problem with some of the yes men on this particular board, because his act is not my cup of tea either.

Agreed, he knows how to play the game but has NO IDEA how to play the fame.

Man I love how these Canadians (Seems to always be the same ones ...Magootz, fly4apuckguy, Leafswhoeverchick etc..) all join forces against A.O... Always!!! I remember Fly4puckguy stating back on beckett how he would never cheer for Alex because he was Russian and not from Canada, we get it already. You all love your country and all the wonderful players they have produced over the years. However, If Alex was Canadian Don Cherry and you all would not be able to control yourself. He is the best player in the world and it is not even close. He has more passion then Sidney could ever imagine having. Please, Sidney is the biggest whiner in the NHL and if he was Russian or better yet American, you all would despise him tremendously. So sad that Sidney is not even the best player on his team, another Russian is!! Magootz great photo, do you have any photos of Sidney with any woman.......Hmmm.... No I have not seen any yet either. Alex is a Rock Star persona and having met and seen the woman he dates (Putting it nicely), man we all could be so lucky. Get over it, Hockey needs a little excitement. You want to call it a side show, well we Americans tend to call it Passion and a Personality. Something your beloved Canadian Poster boy has neither of.

id party with ovechkin and markov ANYTIME they want
nice gretzky reference btw not too many people grasped that one

I'm glad someone else said what I was thinking...We all want excitment in a game, and Ovechkin gives it to us.
