Simple discussion topic. Who are the players on your 'rival' teams that you wouldnt mind on your own team. Kind of like a reverse trolling thread.

Try to make it non-obvious (dont pick the teams best player).

For my Rags, I came up with the following:

:devils:- Not much on the team I would really want, though if I had to chose I would say either Zajac or Volchenkov. Leaning towards Volch and his ability to play a mean D.

:isles:- I wish wish wish Sather didnt fall asleep when Parenteau's contract expired.... I dont know how or why we gave him up for nothing. The kid fits right into the system we play, and actually has some talent to him. Other than that, I really like Okposo despite his off year and injury.

:flyers:- Without saying the obvious Giroux, I would have to pass on some of their high scorers because of the obvious flaws and attitude issues (briere?). I like the youngster JVR and Coburn, as well as the under appreciated Betts and Shelley. Again, Sather why would you let these guys get away for nothing??

:pens:- Asham is a beast, so I start there. I like my teams to know how to play both ends of the ice, and have a bit of grit. That being said, I would easily go for Staal. Not worth the high draft pick (Toews and Backstrom came just after him by the way), but he has good enough talent and brains to make my list.

:ducks: I want Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry on the Kings yesterday!
(I like the Ducks hahah)

:pens: Crosby

:canucks: Kesler

:habs: Nobody ever!

Hmm,

Toews (probably first and only Hawk I've ever liked)

Pavelski (Not sure if I hate the Sharks or not but I do like Pavelski's game)

Nash (again I don't have hatred I guess for CBJ but I love Nash)

I think Asham would be an amazing fit on this team right now. He can play the goon, but can also bring a little talent to the table. Would love to have him back.

Milan Lucic hands down. The guy does it all.

Is this restricted to within-division, or conference?

Either way, my picks:

CBJ: Jakub Voracek. I remember watching that draft and hoping he'd go anywhere except CBJ. I highly doubt he will be moved for a very long time.

LA Kings: Wayne Simmonds. I can see this guy becoming an offensive force in the future. He already plays a very solid game, it will only get better. I'm envious of the Kings here.

Phoenix: Martin Hanzal. Huge guy, somewhat mediocre hands, maybe not exactly the offensive bomb the Coyotes were hoping for when they drafted him, but I'm liking the two way game, and I do think he will become a stable second liner in terms of offense?

Calgary: Yes Iginla, but he's rather obvious for any Canadian fan. I would say Mark Giordano...guy has speed, offensive instincts, and plays big minutes. Very good story.

players that i like on teams i dont like are

1. iginla - i HATE the flames with a passion but would take iggy on my team anyday. talented, good leader and a lot of heart

2. toews - i think i hate the hawks as much as i hate the flamers. maybe because i hate patrick kane. but same qualities as iggy, imo

Flames: Jarome Iginla...I echo Jon's sentiment. If there was a way for Iggy to stay in Calgary and cap off his career and get his Cup somehow that didn't involve the Flames winning a Stanley Cup

Maple Leafs: The only player remotely close to "like" is Carl Gunnarson, and only because his name sounds cool when you say it.

Wild: Cal Clutterbuck. I would've loved to see the Canucks move a crapload of assets to the Wild along with Gillis getting down on his hands and knees pleading to trade for Clutterbuck. I like this guy more and more every time I see him play.

Rangers: Well, they got rid of Steve Valiquette and Markus Naslund retired, so I'll go with none of the above.

Avalanche: My current favorite is Brian Elliott for starting out 0-3 in his Avs career. I REALLY like seeing that :D

Not fair, chadsexington is picking all over the board lol.

Well for one I'd want Lundy from rangers, and avery... much as I hate the little fhhhhh :)
Carter and Pronger from philly....no guessing why there.

Great choice :).

Hawks: Marian Hossa. If Jake ever comes close to him I'll be very happy. Dude is so smart and strong on the puck, I really love his style of play.

Hawks: Duncan Keith. Still very young yet an established star.

Bruins: Patrice Bergeron. Strong 2-way player, great passer.

Capitals: John Carlson. I think he's really underrated among the rookie defensemen. Great skater, great hockey IQ.

Stars: Jamie Benn. Up and coming power foward. Loads of character and strong work ethic.

Now, take the amount every Canuck fan despises the Flamingos, multiply that by 1,287, and you will then know how much I hate them. Except Iggy. He rocks.

I don't really hate any other teams (at least anywhere near as much as the Flamingos). I am beginning to develop a hate of the Penguins - not necessarily because of the team, but because of the fans. If I were to say I hate them, the player on the team I really like is Matt Cooke. And Crosby, since he has finally grown up a bit.
