Ok, so I bought a lot of McDonald's Inserts (6 cards) off ebay and it came to $20. The shipping was clearly indicated as $10 on the auction page. I live about an hour away from the guy and just asked if it was still $10 for shipping or if it was cheaper because we lived so close... I got an invoice for $10 shipping with no answer to my question, so I paid it.


I just got the cards today, in a bubble mailer, sent regular mail ($1.15 stamp on the envelope). I opened up the envelope and was shocked... all 6 cards were in penny sleeves just sort of floating around in the envelope. Remarkably, none of the cards were damaged.


I am a little ticked off for paying $10 for regular mail and not even securing any of the cards from being damaged... So, my question is, what feedback do I leave?

Positive Feedback and make a comment about how the cards were sent unsecured?

Positive Feedback and make a comment about how expensive shipping was?

Positive feedback but make sure I give him a "1" on communication and reasonable shipping charges in the subratings?

Neutral Feedback and once again give him a 1 on communication and reasonable shipping charges?

Negative feedback?

Firstly, file a PayPal chargeback. You did not receive the shipping that you paid for.

Then hit him with a neutral with the 1's in shipping cost and communication.
 
give him a neutral because you obviously didn't have a positive experience with him. then give him 1's since he doesn't like replying to you and charges excessive shipping prices. the only thing holding the negative back is that you got lucky and nothing was damaged.
 
I'd first contact the seller about their shipping rates to see if they're willing to provide a refund for the shipping overage before you file a PayPal chargeback.

Regardless of which way the seller responds though...positive feedback (you did get the cards afterall,) but leave 1s on shipping and communication. Honest DSRs are really the best way to get this kind of crap to stop.
 
Negative all the way. He gouged you on shipping, and the feedback should reflect it. To say you got the cards undamaged, means you should leave a negative for a guy that charged you reasonable shipping, and went above and beyond, but the posta office damaged the card. I feel its the intent, and he obviously intended to rip you off, so a paypal chargeback, then a negative, and hopefully others will avoid him.
 
Why all the negativity? Yes, The cards should have been packaged better (correctly) , But it was you that bid on the auction Knowi theshipping cost, and even after no responce was given to your question, you still paid the 10.00 anyway.

Know I do not condone the rediculous shipping charge, the fact is you still bid on it knowing it was that high, and paid for it.

Now I'm not suggesting that you Not pay for an auction, but maybe you could have contacted him one more time about the situation. But Honesly, if he had been me, I would'nt do anything for you.

I would do exactly what Chadsexington said.

He's not complaining about the price. He's complaining because the guy obviously just charged it to make a few more bucks, not to ship securely.

Hit him with a neutral and 1's.
 
Facts of the matter:
1) The cards were received intact, in spite of packaging.
2) You knew full well the shipping charges before you bid.
3) The shipping charges are at odds with the service provided.
4) The communication is terrible.

Added up, this is a neutral - merch received intact, but seller has done nothing in any way to even attempt customer satisfaction. Regardless of any offered refunds, he gets a neutral, a comment about his shipping practices, and 1s for comm and shipping.

That's my opinion.
 
Hey guys, thanks for the comments and opinions. I've contacted the seller to see if he wants to refund the overage in shipping before I leave feedback... I'll update the post when I hear back (if I hear back from this dude).

Of course, depending how he responds to your question about refunding a portion of the shipping charge, you may want to leave a neutral. Hit him with the DSR ratings, as advised earlier. Since you knew what the shipping charge would be, and the cards arrived in good condition, I don't think you have any basis to file a claim or to leave negative feedback.

And I would never buy from this guy again, and I would let others know who he is.
 
Cards received in great condition... no matter how lucky that was... i would have to say Positive but 1's on comunication and shipping costs...

Maybe its just me, but i guess that does bring up the question of what deserves a negative...or neutral... I always figure that if I get my cards and they are not damaged.. can't give a negative for that... I have never given out a neutral but maybe in this case it does deserve it... and with a feedback comments about the shipping charges...hmm i guess that i am leaning more towards the neutral as I know that it does pop out more to me when checking out a sellers feedback...

Well I guess that also depends on what kind of shipping they described for 10$ if it was just regular mail then you got what you paid for...but then you can also then report him to ebay for unreasonable shipping fees..
 
$10 shipping charged the for local area (yes, you knew that) but sent regular mail floating around the envelope in penny sleeves? No answer to your question about shipping? Doesn't sound like a positive experience to me, so while it may not warrant a negative, I'd say this is certainly a case for a neutral and some poor scores on communication and shipping.
 
Hey guys, just an update... it's been a couple days now and I have not heard anything back from the seller at all. I asked him to make it right (the shipping overage for the service given) before I left feedback and have not heard anything at all.

So, what do you guys think I should do now??

I am thinking neutral still with 1's in communication and reasonable shipping... Everyone agree? Should I do a chargeback? Can't you only do a chargeback if you don't receive the item? I'm not sure about that...

You can do a "significantly not as described" but I don't think you'll get anywhere.

And really, regardless of whether he makes it right - he didn't.
 
At this point, I think leaving a neutral with 1 star for DSR's is appropriate. Attempting a chargeback is dishonest, in my opinion.

I do believe that any chargeback would only be towards the extortionate shipping fee and not for the price of the cards as well.

As for the feedback - you received the items stated and on such a basis I would rule negative feedback out. On the other hand, the poor communication and obvious lack of care towards merchandise safety certainly warrants a neutural in this case, with '1''s for both Communication and S&H Charges.
