SP Authentic Being Ruined

What exactly is being ruined? Seems like they're removing an auto and supposedly lowering the box price.
 
Hate those spectrum being 1 of the hits

They were worthless before cause no one wants them (remember those diecut fx ?) and it will be the same now
 
It's just like bacon... remember a pound of bacon used to be $5? All of a sudden 375g packs started appearing for the same price.
 
The spectrums being a hit is a symptom of a recurring issue with product construction at UD. This is the bubble chamber effect - they're hearing the opinions and thought process that reflects their own thinking, and consequently they aren't responsive to collector reaction. It's been happening in the non-sport as well. It's related to the (mistaken) notion that collectors value premium card stock in direct proportion to how costly it is to include.

The remainder of the set design looks good, and dropping an autograph in favour of a (hopefully significant) reduction in box price is a good idea.
 
pre-order pricing is up on some sites.

It is more expensive to pre-order a case of 16-17 SP Authentic (32 guaranteed autos + chance to get 3 autos in some boxes) than it was to pre-order a case of 15-16 SP Authentic (36 guaranteed autos).

The current pre-order pricing is on par with the current price of 15-16 SPA.

For those unclear on the concept, this is an epic fail.
 
2016-17 SP Game Used and SPx are also boasting a "new configuration, lower price" setup.

SPGU is boiled down into one six-card pack/box guaranteeing a handful of hits.

SPx has become one card per pack, four pack per box product guaranteeing one auto, one memorabilia, and one "technology" card per four pack box. Whatever a technology card is.

And by the look of the SPA pricing I would think the "lower price" will be minimal at best.

The group break friendly, "just give me the hits for the same crazy prices" format continues to spread through the hobby. Pretty soon UD is going to include a bubble envelope, sleeve and top loader in every pack so all the breaker has to do is fill out an address and the hit will be ready to ship out :laugh:

They need you to peddle their products while they boast about how they're protecting you with their AIR and Diamond Dealer nonsense on one hand. Then with the other hand they are slowly increasing E-Pack releases to cut out distributors/shops allowing them to get more of the money they can potentially make by doing so.

you forgot to add that one 16 box case is now made up of two 8 box inners. wonder if Breakers will be charging the same price for half the content. :laugh::dizzy:
