Don't visit the production facility...if you see how much foils, cardboard, and paper is wasted, you'd be shocked....
So the answer?
Buy less product with wasteful packaging.
Write the manufacturer with your thoughts.
Support local pollution initiatives.
But don't lose sight of the fact that a hobby like this not only produces too much packaging, but also that the guys whose photos are on the cards fly millions of cumulative of miles a year to play silly games, the card reps fly many miles and spend a ton-o-dough to attend trade shows and conventions, and we do as well whether by air, car, or public transit.
I applaud you for your attention to this issue, but it such a bigger issue than packaging.
Michael.
don't even get me started with Superlative (what kind of ratio is a bible compared to a pack of cards, so wasteful).
the Al Gores and David Suzukis and Greenpeaces of the world who are the new Fascists
Superlative pretty much puts a cases worth of hits on one pack that most people wouldn't just throw in the trash, It pretty much has no waste.
Are you kidding me? Fascists? What have you been smokin'? Must be some seriously good stuff if you think David Suzuki is a fascist!
Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Nowadays everyone is jumping on the "enviro-bandwagon." :beer:I think its blatantly obvious that the world is under a crisis right now where we are running out of resources and are getting closer and closer everyday to global warming.
The hobby is so wasteful, wrappers to wrap packs, boxes to box the packs, sometimes a styrofoam at the bottom of the box to fill up space, and then another plastic wrap to wrap the box (not to mention the piece of foil tape to seal the box)
If we get to high end products, like Ultimate, you double the amount I stated above; with the Cup its even more, and don't even get me started with Superlative (what kind of ratio is a bible compared to a pack of cards, so wasteful).
Seriously, we always complain about how if the card companies reduce their packaging, we would save alot of money. (I.e if the cup didn't have that stupid tin, it would cost us less).
But what about the world? its so wasteful to produce so much packaging when we as collectors end up throwing it all out. Card companies need to realize that not only we, as collectors, save money, but by reducing packaging, they help contribute to the world. Kill two birds with one stone, agree?
