Tim Hortons?

I'm looking forward to 'spend too much money on cards and drink too much subpar coffee' season at Timmie's.

I wish McDonald's would do this. I like their coffee better and mmmm ... McGriddles.

Obviously, the product is virtually a 100% sellout for the stores so TH makes a chunk of $$$$ off the set but you are right, we had over $3k in Tim Hortons insert sales in the first month - not bad for a $450 2 box initial investment.

My viewpoint has always been that anything that promotes the hobby and brings new customers into the stores is a good thing. We are after all, a hobby - a nonessential product or commodity. I can't speak for all stores but I know we got another 15-20 strong customers who now are regular participants in our product releases and MEGA Group Breaks - they all started off as collectors trying to finish their TH set and I assume this is likely the case in most communities. And at the local card show - big sellers are the inserts.

The beauty of it all - There are Tmmies everywhere so the collecting of hockey cards gets tremendace exposure! Decent products help the hobby and get people interested in what else is available. It has also helped the older collector want to revisit the vintage sets they once collected - and we all win. New collectors means new customers and new great friendships!

So, I am a fan of TH each year. CTC as well. Epacks - not a chance.

I'll be doing the same thing. We'll be hosting a trade night in an empty store in the mall probably the first weekend in October. Previous nights had up to 40 people swapping. I ask each person to donate a toonie and we donate it to the local women's and children's shelter.

The first year we killed in binders and pages, but that dropped off dramatically when Tim Hortons released their own binders (even though they SUCKED). We still do very well with singles and inserts, though, and it did allow us to convert some of the Timmies folks into semi-regulars.

As someone mentioned earlier, one of the big issues is there is really nothing comparable to THs or CT that has the same type of hits at the same price point. Peoples eyes cross when they read the pack pricing on Black Diamond or even Ice, and they are not going to make that jump.

Interesting CT sidenote: CT makes very little on those packs, which is why they've not blown them out. One of the stores in my area, though, messed up and put them out for like $.50 and a customer of mine grabbed everything they had left (which was like two boxes). CT honours prices from store to store also, but when he went to another store, he got shut down aside from a few packs.

Just found this on the preregistration page:

Anyone notice the Clearcuts are missing the details and set numbers on the back? Or are these limited blank back erros ;)

On a related note, the Game Day Action card Seat Numbers on the front correspond to the relative card number in that Insert Set. Maybe they did in the past too, but I only noticed it this year.

Dave.

Yeah I pulled an Eichel, no numbering on it.
Dan.

There is a number on them very poorly done but it’s on the back of the card top right corner behind the upper deck symbol it’s in a light blue ink you almost have to hold the card flat in a well lit room to see it and even then very hard to see
