John Madden signs with the Wild....yawn....

-Dan

I'd gladly take him back in Chicago, many may not have noticed, but he was a huge piece of the Cup puzzle for Chicago (and New Jersey). No flash, no pretty end to end goals, just quietly goes out and does his job at an extremely high level, and the younger guys all learned a ton from him.

Couldn't agree any more. Madden has always been a great "go to work" guy his whole career. If the Wings didn't have so many players similar to his style I would have loved him in Detroit.

I didn't mean that to sound like a knock on John Madden. He is definitely a proven veteran who has always contributed well to his team. And I am happy we landed him at such a discount. My comment was more towards the team's signings in general. The Wild need scoring and we have failed to pick up any free agents that will provide that during this offseason.

I gotcha now. I thought the Wild were going away from the defense first strategy and claimed to want to open it up more? Seems odd that they chose Madden, but for the price he is well worth it. Mikko will learn a lot from this guy, as will a lot of the players.

If Sheppard can reach even half his potential, he could be a positive surprise on the scoresheet this year. I like the addition of Nystrom and Brunette, they won't put up huge numbers but they shuold help in the scoring department a bit compared to last year. I really like Minnesota's defense, snagging Barker was a nice deal for them, and offense begins from the defense so I think they are set up pretty decent and will give teams fits every night.

Predators re-sign Hornqvist to 3-year, $9.25M contract

Hornqvist became the first Nashville draft pick to score 30 goals for the club, leading the team and registering the fourth highest total in franchise history in the category in 2009-10.

The Sweden native tied a franchise record and tied for second in the NHL in game-winning goals (8) last season and also led the club in power-play goals (10). In 2009-10, he also tied for the team lead in points (51) and set a franchise record for shots in a season (275).

Canucks sign Raffi Torres 1 year 1 million

NHLSourcesSay

Canucks have signed Raffi Torres, 1 year deal worth $1M

Good deal if you ask me!! Perfect fit for the third line, but this puts Mitchells signing farther away, which sucks!! Our defense with Mitchell would be unreal!

NHLSourcesSay suck as a source although Sportsnet has confirmed it.

One of my fav players goes to my most hated team:|.

If I was a Canucks fan, I would rather have Torres then Mitchell. I'm not saying this because I like Torres or anything. Mitchell is/was one of my fav Canucks. I think bringing in Mitchell would have made it more complicated with all the D you guys have.
