In the famous words of the voice of the Octagon Bruce Buffer, "It....is....time!"

UFC 100 is this Saturday and has an amazing card of fights. I will start with the fight matchups and my opinions, and i encourage any responses that you may have on the topic.

Heavyweight Championship Fight - Brock Lesnar (Champion) vs. Frank Mir (Challenger)
In their first fight against each other at UFC 81 (the event which catapulted me over the top into an avid UFC fan), Frank Mir stunned the crowd with a kneebar on the former WWE superstar. This time around, I see a similar result (Frank Mir wins by submission), but I believe the fight will last longer than 90 seconds as it did at UFC 81. Mir by submission

Welterweight Championship Fight - Georges St. Pierre (Champion) vs. Thiago Alves (Challenger)
If you have watched the promo commercials to UFC 100, you have heard the phrase being thrown around that this is St. Pierre's toughest test. I believe it will be. I'm not going so far as to say Alves will be victorious, but I do see 25 minutes of fighting coming down to a decision. GSP by decision

Middleweight Fight - Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson
As tradition goes, the two fighters of the most recent The Ultimate Fighter reality show will fight each other after the finale has aired. This time however, it's more than just coach vs. coach...it's nation vs. nation. Team UK won both weight classes of the show, so can Henderson tip the scales back to respectability with a convincing win over "The Count"? My prediction says that if Henderson can "out-wrestle" Bisping then he can win a decision (flashback to his win over Rich Franklin), but otherwise I see the faster and younger Brit winning via TKO. Bisping by TKO

Welterweight Fight - Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago
Jon Fitch continues his climb back to contender status against a relative newcomer to the UFC. In Thiago's UFC debut, he caught Josh Koscheck with an uppercut that rocked Koscheck and Thiago finished the fight soon after. In my opinion, it was kind of a lucky shot as he had not landed an effective strike up until that point. Jon Fitch had won 9 consecutive fights in the UFC before losing a decision to GSP for the title. With all that being said, Jon Fitch via strikes.

Middleweight Fight - Alan Belcher vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama
I don't want to get over my head on this bout, since I have no background on Akiyama except for his Wikipedia page. Alan Belcher is a decent fighter, but I still believe he has yet to challenge a higher-echelon middleweight fighter (henderson, bisping, maia, marquardt to name a few). Got to go with Belcher by decision.

Thanks for reading. Here are my prelim picks to close it off. Enjoy the fights.

Stephan Bonnar vs. Mark Coleman
Jim Miller vs. Mac Danzig
Jake O'Brien vs. Jon Jones
Dong Hyun Kim vs. TJ Grant
C.B. Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor
Shannon Gugerty vs. Matt Grice

I'm by no means a big UFC fan. I will be manning a neighboring fire dept. that night with some guys from my hall while their dept. goes out on a annual party. They're buying the ppv for us and I'm looking forward to it. Even though I've only heard of the guys in the top two matches :)

My flight leaves on Friday at noon down to Vegas, so needless to say I'm just a teensy bit excited.

I originally planned on heading to this event because I knew GSP was going to be fighting, when Lesnar v. Mir was added I was thrilled (well, my wallet not so much).

Anyhow, my predictions on the fights...

Lesnar vs. Mir - Submission R2
GSP vs. Alves - TKO R3
Henderson vs. Bisping - TKO R1
Fitch vs. Thiago - KO R2
Akiyama vs. Belcher - Split Decision
Bonnar vs. Coleman - KO R1
Jim Miller vs. Mac Danzig - Decision
Jake O'Brien vs. Jon Jones - KO R1
Dong Hyun Kim vs. TJ Grant - Decision
C.B. Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor - TKO R2
Shannon Gugerty vs. Matt Grice - Decision

Ok Here's my 2 cents

I hope (I mean I really hope) that Mir whoops Lesnars butt but I have a feeling Brock will win. Im not sure about anyone else here but as a long time UFC follower I hate the way that he has been pushed to the top. I love Frank but I don't see it going well for him this time.

GSP will pick Alves apart systematically and will either submit him or win by decision

Henderson will pull out the win or Bisping. I cant stand Bisping and I hope Hendo destroys him.

Lastly Fitch will crush Thiago. When Fitch wins and GSP moving on, there will be another title shot for Fitch who awesome to watch.

Those are the matches I am excited to see the most although I throughly enjoy watching Bones Jones fight. Flying to Vegas on Friday, the place will be ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lesnar is a stud wrestler and has huge, heavy hands. But, Mir's got really, really good Jits and his striking against Nog looked better than he ever has. Mir by Sub.

Alves deserves the shot at GSP, but will end up just like Koscheck, Fitch, Hughes, and Penn... with a loss to GSP. GSP by TKO.

Bisping is Bisping and Hendo is the man. His team may have lost both divisions of last season's TUF, but he will beat Bisping. Henderson by TKO.

Fitch deserves a big win after the crap Dana pulled with him over the video game. Fitch by TKO.

Akiyama is no chump, and has wins over the likes of Kang and Manhoef. This will be a good fight, but I see Belcher losing. Akiyama by Submission.

Mark Coleman vs Bonnar... Coleman needs and will take it from Bonnar.

Mac Danzig vs Jim Miller... Working for KOTC, I've seen Mac fight several times. He'll come back from his last two losses and pull out the win.

Jake O'Brien vs Jon Jones.. I just like Jake, so I'm pulling for him.

Dong Hyun Kim vs TJ Grant... TJ's another former KOTC fighter, so gotta pull for our boys!

C.B. Dolloway vs Tom Lawlor... I like anyone that has beat Kingsbury. GO LAWLOR!

Shannon Gugerty vs Matt Grice... Grice has lost two in a row and if he gets a third, his contract will be dropped by the UFC. I think he'll pull it off and win.

Brock Lesnar (Champion) vs. Frank Mir (Challenger) - Mir is no underdog. I still have to give Brock credit to his dedication and seemingly huge learning curve. Brock via GnP.

Georges St. Pierre (Champion)
vs. Thiago Alves (Challenger) - GSP has the most technical, fundamentally sound game. GSP via Submission.

Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson - Hendo via super Hulk Fist.

Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago

Alan Belcher vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama - Yoshihiro Sexyama Battlestation SEXWAGON!!!

Stephan Bonnar vs. Mark Coleman
Jim Miller vs. Mac Danzig
Jake O'Brien vs. Jon Jones
Dong Hyun Kim vs. TJ Grant
C.B. Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor
Shannon Gugerty vs. Matt Grice

Pretty excited for this card. Lots of interesting fights that could go either way. My picks:

Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir
Georges St. Pierre vs. Thiago Alves
Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson
Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago
Alan Belcher vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama
Stephan Bonnar vs. Mark Coleman
Jim Miller vs. Mac Danzig
Jake O'Brien vs. Jon Jones
Dong Hyun Kim vs. TJ Grant
C.B. Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor
Shannon Gugerty vs. Matt Grice

Congrats to the members who got tickets and are attending the festivities. I myself wanted tickets, but they sold out before they went on sale to the public

I found a video interview of Frank Mir on mmamania.com and he's got one heck of a shiner. Hope that doesn't affect his performance this Saturday.

The weigh-ins are just two hours away. Going to watch them live on sportsnet.ca; I am very excited about this card. I wish that they could show the entire fight card as I'm interested to watch most of the undercard fights as well. I will post the weigh-ins as they happen:

Brock Lesnar 265 vs. Frank Mir 245 looking pretty ripped; the lightest I remember Frank ever weighing in at.
Georges St. Pierre 170 vs. Thiago Alves 170
Jon Fitch 170 vs. Paulo Thiago 170
Dan Henderson 185 vs. Michael Bisping 186
Yoshihiro Akiyama 185 vs. Alan Belcher 186
Mark Coleman 205 vs. Stephan Bonnar 205
Mac Danzig "154 lbs of vegan muscle"- Joe Rogan vs. Jim Miller 155
Jon Jones 206 vs. Jake O'Brien 206
Dong Hyun Kim 171 vs. T.J. Grant 170
CB Dollaway 186 vs. Tom Lawlor 184: Lawler came out with UFC painted on his forehead; and Just bleed painted across his chest.

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Alan Belcher: Akiyama via split decision.

amazing fights, all good fights fun, lesner hilarious.

"going home to have a coors light, thats right coors light because bud light wont pay me anything"

lmao...awesome

On cbssports Denny Burkholder mentions that more than Lesnar's lack of class the bigger threat to MMA are "dangerous cheap shots after the buzzer or vicious elbows to a clearly unconscious opponent. You know, like Dan Henderson landed on Michael Bisping on Saturday. Well-respected, soft-spoken Dan Henderson not only took a measured cheap shot on a motionless opponent, but he largely got away with it, uncriticized. Sure, the ref could have stopped it earlier. But Henderson's been around MMA forever. You think he didn't know Bisping was out cold?"

Henderson's late hit reminded me a lot of Rampage continuing to throw after Wanderlei was clearly out in December. I think that these are classless; punk actions by those two; and that the only reason that Rampage didn't and Henderson won't (he actually won Knockout of the Night; and 100K) is because of who they are. If those actions were perpetrated by a relative newcomer they would have been suspended or fired.
