uncirculated cards question

With uncirculated cards, does anyone open the one touch and send them to be graded?

I saw a Highland Mint Lemieux rookie reprint that was graded, can't remember if it was PSA or SGC and it did really well compared to the original slab. Maybe it was an Orr, but certainly a Highland Mint.

I've seen this done before. It could hurt resale value if you ever go to sell the card after that. Some collectors prefer the original packaging the card was sealed in.

I prefer it sealed in whatever it came in.
