Aihhhh Curamba....that's insane!

Think about it, you could likely get a multi-color Lidstrom and a Zetterberg Limited Logos for that type of money, and probably still have money left over. Or buy a tin of 05-06 The Cup and likely have more value than what that McRaunchy redemption ever yields.

I don't collect McDonalds cards, but I just dont understand the logic of paying the premium prices on some of these "numbered" cards. Whether it is /100 or /5, its simply not worth that kind of money...
Some cards are, but not this one IMO.
 
I think the reason they are worth so much is because of the sheer scarcity. These cards are only available for a few weeks a year, and how many of these instant winner cards are thrown out or chewed up by little kids who don't realize what they have? This isn't the kind of product that sits around waiting to be pulled in hobby shops, if you miss the boat your chances of finding cards like this are very limited. Yes, $800+ for a Lidstrom patch does seem pretty high but how many of the five available will actually make it to the market?

Agreed. I have to say if these patches are as nice as previous years then they are worth a lot (possibly not $800 a lot but still a lot) to the right collectors. I have to say these babies are heart and soul of my flames collection just because to own one is hard to have them together is great

Now so far I have never seen another of either one was won locally (Saskatoon) then sold to one of the store owners who knew I would take it. The othercame to me via the Q-mart (Saskatoons main source of cards :D). Without a lot of luck and a lot of $$$$ I would own neither but as it stands im happy to have both.

I think that way too sometimes... then I realize that this is probably the most popular set every year. People who don't normally collect hockey cards build these sets and buy packs.

I'm so glad I got out of collecting Forsberg. This was one of those cards that was always stupid expensive and super-rare. But $800+?????
 
I think I'm going to have to get some more packs tomorrow. Seriously, unless I were to pull a Saku patch or a Price auto, it'd be on the Bay so fast so that I could pay for the rest of Christmas and my boxes of the Canadiens Centennial set.
 
If McDonald's employees knew about this, redemption cards would never make it out. from what I understand redemption packs are VERY thick...
 
wowo 700 packs?! What are the odds per box? I.e. does each 100 pack box have a "average guarantee" and then another average guarantee per 600 pack master box?

Usually I think it's a Clear Path per 100 packs, and jerseys are like 1:2000. The patches...well if the 1:2000 ratio is true, and every jersey card has an /5 variant, then odds for a patch would be 1:40 000, which is pretty astronomical if you ask me!
 
You have the chances of pulling something very very nice out of those packs ...but then again when you finally get your card in the mail you might end up with a one colour patch. look at some of the previous years..... you lucked out huge if you got two or three colour piece.

I pulled a redemption a couple of days ago. I had no idea that there was anything special in the pack. I bought 5 packs at that time, and I have opened about 80 in total this year, and that one did not stand out at all.

As for the price at $800+ on the /5 patches, I'm not really surprised. A lot of player collectors don't collect 1/1's, but do collect everything else. With a McD's card like this, it falls into a more widely collected category (non 1/1's), but due to being so extremely short printed, and the fact that many never get redeemed, they are essentially 1/1's when seen.

Redemption packs are no thicker than the average pack, I can say this having pulled one. There is no possible way to search for a jersey/patch/auto redemption....the other inserts, yes, but not the redemption cards.

What's surprising to me is that it hit that price without Dynacard bidding anymore....
