what's a trimmed bobby orr rookie worth

cropped card

Hey there

Just a heads up on this whole cropped card thing. I have been buying up some vintage hockey on ebay the last month and a half. I have had several
cropped cards sent to me ..they looked fine in the posted scan but it is impossible to match up dimensions online. They are off about an 1/8 of an inch.

I see a lot of vintage stuff now that you can really tell has been altered.

As for the Orr ..I agree with Quincy. Be up front if you're selling or trading it ..and the final price will look after itself. As I'm sure you know ..beckett is a guide. I have seen older vintage sell way above BV. Like after Gump Worsley passed away, his OPC / Topps cards from the early 70's (that booked for 2.00 - 3.00) were selling for 25.00 or more. Habs vintage (and not just the stars) consistently sell at or above BV.

If you don't agree with a sell or trade price from anyone interested in the Orr ..hang on to it.

Thanks guys. At $200 i'd be first in line. Tough to get an orr rc these days in any condition and tough to find one under $1000

Thats not completely true. Ive been eyeing one for my PC, and I would be interested in a trimmed one as long as we can get it authenticated. If you want to chat abotu a deal, PM me.

Rob:

I could see that fetching $600. I know one similar to that one sold at the last spring EXPO for $750. I can not speak to the fact that the dealer disclosed the alteration (I would like to think he did) but I know that most people interested in that particular card know a real one from a fake one and also one trimmed versus original.

If you feel compelled to give it away at the same price/value as a reprint (as someone has suggested), please forward it my way.

orr rc

Hey scott. How are you? I sent the card back to the seller. He's going to send it in to psa for grading. i'm going to try to purchase the card if in fact it comes back as altered. Hopefully i can pick it up. it's a nice card even though it has been trimmed.

As long as PSA says its authentic then being slightly trimmed is fine for me. As long as it was disclosed to me when I purchased it I woild be 100% fine with it. Being a comic collector I think I am probably more use to stuff being slightly altered and restored, guess that has carried over into cards as well.

If that's the case Scott, I have 2 Gretzky RCs for you ;)

Not bad.....however that might be consider more then slight restoration:D. BTW, that one has some nice corners, must be a fake one;) Do you still have the Orr rookie that I traded you in the Michael Jordan RC deal?

That Gretzky is from a 8.5 graded card so it is legit

Was a shame to cut it in half.

That Orr RC went to Ray Abbott as payment for a couple original artworks Todd and I commissioned back in the day
