Which current or former player would make the biggest splash if he suddenly started signing?

Its not "rare" but I have not seen anything new of his in a Loooongggg time

Paul Kariya. One of my favorite players as a kid. Wish something new would come out of his.

Kariya wants nothing to do with hockey these days it seems and he's a very private person. I would love for him to sign again as well but unless he starts to come around to being involved with the NHL again it doesn't look likely.

If memory serves he has only signed for Be A Player sets in the past and that's probably because they were NHLPA-backed products and he was obligated to as an active member. The most recent autos I'm aware of are in his Blues jersey from 2008-09 BAP (sticker). I own one of his 1996-97 Pinnacle autos and I'm hoping to get one or two of the early 2000's Signature Series autos as well.
 
It would not set the world on fire but I believe there would be a market for John Tonelli autos. New York Islanders, Calgary Flames, and team Canada.
 
I think Kevin nailed it initially with Dryden and Kariya, and others got Armstrong.

I saw someone mention Fedorov and would add to that his old WJC linemate Mogilny. Both of those guys were some of the greatest Russian players ever.

Mogilny is often totally forgotten for his 92-93 performance when he potted 76 goals because a kid named Teemu tied him in the goal race as a rookie.

Also, look up what Mogilny did in May of 1989, an IMMENSELY important time in international hockey history.

Bure already signs, it would be nice to have all 3 of these guys in the mix.

Weird Alexander Mogilny story that I rarely ever get to tell: He came to my house in a Buffalo suburb shortly after leaving Russia, as my parents were selling the home and he needed a place. I knew who Alexander Mogilny was, but didn't recognize him (nor did my family). He brought a gorgeous translator with him. He didn't say much when checking out the place, and didn't buy it, but it's a pretty weird and novel moment.
 
Dryden would be a cool guy to add. I have his future trends one and am amazed at how much it shot up in value. For such a great player from one of the biggest fan bases his autographs would be popular. If he was a regular signer his autographs would be one of the most popular for all hockey collectors not just hab fans.

Fetisov is one guy I'd really like to see have a certified autograph. He's never gotten even one. Most of the big USSR guys got one in an early BAP set or a more recent ITG tribute set, not Fetisov.

Even if he signed for just one release it would be awesome. It would still keep his value high if the autos were SP'd, and Habs collectors would go crazy. Win-win in a perfect world.

Not sure what his memorabilia is like as far as availability, but could you imagine what a Scripted Sticks of his would fetch?
 
Fedorov has signed for Leaf as recently as 2015, and should have a fair number of autos out there.

Mogilny is a big one that I hadn't thought of. I would love to have an auto of his.
 
i would love to see a Valery Kamensky or Alexei Kasatonov auto or two.actually any of the early '90s Soviet pioneers would be cool.
