Which current or former player would make the biggest splash if he suddenly started signing?

I'd be in the George Armstrong camp as well - it would be an awesome card to own. I have 3 'in person' Dryden autographs on cards - it sounds like this is the closest I'll get to one.

Here's a Fetisov and Mogilny auto for your viewing pleasure - these are the only ones I've seen...

doesnt fesitov work for the Russian Government, something like the minister for sports, correct me if Im wrong

Could always write to him (Fetisov) - 50/50 chance he'd sign (or tear up your stuff). Not sure he has the following that would make collectors go crazy.

Dryden and Armstrong are the biggies. Konstantinov would be pretty huge too if he could sign again. Molgilny, Kariya, etc. have plenty of graphs out there from years past if people wanted to hunt them down.

Mogilny and Fedorov have both recently done private signings through JLB Sport Rarities or Sport Authentix! But yes, it would be great to see licensed autographed cards for them from UD

Here are a few I had done through the above companies (and they have Kamensky lined up for a few weeks from now):

But I agree, many people would want non-existent George Armstrong auto cards for their HHOF collections...

I personally would love for Paul Kariya to do ANY kind of signing...private, licensed, public, whichever would be great! Here's hoping

It would be interesting to see a couple of players come out like they did in Classic.

I recently found out that a retired NHL'er live not too far from me, Charlie Burns. Started in the late 50's through the early 70's. He was just under a half point per game in the NHL on some not too good teams, and was a point per game player in the WHL with the Seals before they joined the NHL. He coached a little as a mid season replacement in his later years. He knew and skated with some greats of the game.

***He'll sign TTM but I do not think he has signed any cards for any company.

Definitely agree with what others have said. When I was collecting living HOF auto's George Armstrong was the hardest to acquire. Luckily, Ken Dryden was running for office at the time so he'd sign, but he'd be huge if he had a certified auto.

Fetisov and Makarov would be nice, but not sure if they'd be really popular. After watching Red Army you gain a whole new level of respect for the Russians who came over first (incl. Mogilny). They're never given enough credit as pioneers.

I admittedly know nothing about George Armstrong, but all of the mentions here make it clear I need to read up on him. I have a rookie card of his from ITG's History of Hockey that I cracked out of the slab.

I would still love to see more autographs of actors who played famous hockey roles in movies or on TV.

Captain of the last Leafs team to win the Cup in 1967. Hasn't signed in years and just thinking of all of those people with 1967 Maple Leaf Stanley Cup Winner projects that are incomplete has me thinking there would be a huge press for his auto.

George did at one time sign items for the Anishnabek Nation 7th Generation Charity in Ontario, but they changed structure I believe a while back and he hasn't been involved for a long time.
