Hey there,

I thought it would be fun to reminisce about your biggest card regret, be it a purchase, a big flop rookie, or a card that got away.

For me, I was building the Pietrangelo UD Black name plate back in 08-09. I needed the letter 'O'. I came up on Ebay. I put a BIG bid on it, and got sniped by $5 at the end. I broke it up soon after. I was defeated :|

Growing up in Winnipeg in the 80's, I can't tell you the number of Gretzky, Messier, Coffey RC's that got ravaged in my bike spokes :hockey:

Happy collecting

A couple stand out for me.

04-05 UD Legends Classics triple auto of Roy, Esposito, Worsley. That would have been a cool card to redeem. I think it was numbered to 25 and I don't think I ever saw a live version.

07-08 SPA FW Carey Price. I sold it way back for a decent price back then.

Nathan MacKinnon...you name it I had it and sold it during his rookie year...I looked like a genius for a year or so after. Not so much now.

Definitely passing on multiple Gretzky RC's over the years, but there are many others that I can think of, in both hockey and baseball, that get me thinking, if I could only go back in time. :|

Here I'll pipe in with a few that stick out immediately. I know there's more.

Sold a Rantanen HG about 6 months after it came out. I thought I got good $ for it but I don't want to think of what it can fetch now.

Traded a Drai FWA at the Expo a few years ago when he was starting to get hot, but people were still skeptical about his future and everyone was wanting Pasta FWAs instead. Do not ask me what trade value I put on it, and I close my eyes whenever I see a Drai FWA for sale either on here, FB, or ebay. I did trade it for a few really really nice Presidents Choice leafs multi memorabilia cards that are PC pieces though.

Traded a Mackinnon Ult Rookie Auto for actually a few nice PC pieces a few years ago, so its not totally a regret, but I bet I could have got waaaayyyyy more if I just held on a little while longer.

Was looking for a Gretzky PSA 6 a few years ago at the expo and passed on a few of them because of a couple hundred bucks...no further comment on that one.

Was offered Crosby YGs at $100 each (he had 6 of them... would have sold 1 or all 6 for that cost). That was a bunch of years ago (I want to say 2014, give or take a year).

I already had one in a set, so I had no real interest.

No real regrets. At the time everything seemed right. But with this boom that is going on right now.
I sort of wish I had a few cards back that I sold really pretty cheap.Just a few examples. Sold my
Cup Crosby rookie and I see what they sell for now sort of stings a bit. But the last time I sold off
a portion of my collection I sold among a lot more stuff. But I had 8 graded Gretzky Rookies, and a
Orr rookie . And now only a couple years after I see what they are selling for. Oh well. like I said.
At the time the prices paid seemed fair to me.

I didn't buy its YG for my set when it was at 30$ on eBay, I was always pushing the buy to later. It went quickly to 80$ and now I forget the idea. If the bubble doesn't pop, maybe I'll set my partial set later.

Was putting together the 03-04 UD Premier Signature Set. Had the set almost complete but was missing the Lindros. Looked for it for 2 years. Before I got out of the hobby around 2012, I decided to break it up. Looking back wish I kept them as to say I can have some of the legends of the game's autos take care of and since they have added to it it would of been a nice set to still have today. Oh and i have seen the lindros since.

I got this one, guys.

I passed up on a Bobby Orr RC........ For Free.

:) ......

I'd say you're the winner, but I'm not so sure that's a good thing here

For me...too many to remember. I think right now it'd be not grabbing an Ovi YG for my Caps RC collection before they started going bananas. I have one in my set, so I'll settle for that one right now.

I pulled that triple redemption. It was the first card I ever had to drive down to FedEx and sign for.

My biggest card regrets is actually from when I was buying football. The sheer size of the pile of Kapernick, RGIII, and Andrew Luck huge cards I held onto looking for the big payday.

Only one but it still haunts me.

Back in 99, yes I’m that old, I pulled a Rocket Richard Inkredible level 2 numbered 9/25 with my son sitting beside me he was about 13. We both went nuts and it was PC. My best pull before or since. I sold it for very good coin but it still hurts me and hurts my son even more. ThAt was not a good lesson. I’ve vowed to buy it back for excellent coin. If anyone knows where it may be please PM me.

I sold a BGS 10 Auston Matthews FWA for around 1K. Major mistake.

how did that happened ? I graded mine shortly after i pulled it and got a 10 also and got 2300

my regret in relate to hockey is probably moving my McDavid stuff, including 2 FWA (1 was a 9.5)

Had the chance to buy cases of 1986 Fleer basketball for $180 US per case. I asked Grandpa for a loan. He declined. I still love him
