Your Hobby Related Goals/Resolutions For 2021

I’m joining in this year, with the mindset of reviewing these in December 2021...
1. Add at least 20 more UNDER ICE auto customs to my growing set of every Whaler player’s autograph
2. Get at least 5 high end Whaler cards
3. My 3rd goal is for both hobby and beyond...to remind myself that life is too short to waste negative energy on people or situations. I can’t control what kind of crap people throw at me, but I can control how I react.

Come on 2021, let’s get this party started :D

1) I'm sitting at 103/145 different Hockey Jambalaya's. I would like to get to 125 by the end of next year. Hopefully complete the 08-09 or 09-10 set in the process.
2) With everything I have incoming, I have 28 different Basketball Jambalaya's. I would like to get to 35.
3) Make it halfway through the 2020-21 Metal Universe Jambalaya Set.
4) Keep hunting jambalaya buybacks.
5) Jambalaya

Hey man, not sure if you have heard of them, but I think you should take a look at Jambalaya's, I have a feeling you will like them. ;)

Start collecting again. I have hardly collected anything in the last decade. Took some time to raise my family and work...with most of my kids moved out and retirement in the not-too-distant future, it is time to get back in it again.

Been poking my head here and there in the form since being back and thought that this year I get more involved.

Here are my resolutions:

1. Finish 2 of the young gun sets that I have incomplete, or havent started yet. I have everyset complete up till 2012/13. Have parts of 2013/14 and 2014/15. Did complete 2015/16 but have nothing since.

2. Make a proper master list of Maple Leafs Autos that I want to collect. Ive started the Maple Leafe Centennial Set but only picked up lots at a time and picked up a few others off to the side but want to have a master list of any and all Maple Leafs that are pictured on the leafs and signed.

3. To finaly get the rest of my collection from my parents and have it with me (Anybody have recommondations on moving several dozen binders of cards across an international boarder)

4. Before truly re-starting my collecting, to properly have my collection archived so that I know what im moving and what im keeping (outside my young gun sets those are staying with me) and more importatly what I have. Hard to remember what I have after being away for 5 years and accidentally deleting my master list that I had when I reformatted my computer a few years back.

5. Figuring out what I will be doing with my big Rick Nash Collection. Keep it and just fill in the gaps, break it up and just keep certain ones or move the whole thing:confused:

6. Be more involved with the community.

Welcome back to this awesome hobby !

Thanks. I can see it is going to be a bit more of a challenge than in the past. I have spent the last couple of days looking at different sets from the past few years, seeing what I like....but finding boxes is not as easy as it once was. Most are sold out. Is pre-ordering the only way to go now?

To finish off the two autographs sets I'm working on early in 2021 and to take a small break until the next Premier and Ultimate Collections get released!

Hope everyone has a good and healthy Christmas!

Depending on the product you're looking for - yes. A good example of this was Series 1. If you didn't pre-order it, the prices rose very quickly out of the gate. I could see the very same thing happening with a lot of the big 20-21 releases.

1- Attempt to stay more focused and try to avoid the 'buy all the cards' attitude/problem. Whoopsie, did I just buy a 90's Jagr insert card cause it looked cool?

2 - Learn to sell more, rather then always wanting to keep everything. Even though many cards are purchased to flip/sell/invest in as soon as I get them I want to keep them.

3 - Learn better when to sell. I believe Gomaz or one of the podcasts mentioned having a plan (timeline or value) as to when to sell. So do that better and follow it.

4 - Keep growing the PC. 90's BGS 9.5's, 80's BGS 8-9's and maybe start added some more 00+ stuff in BGS slabs.

5 - Attempt to break even (while building my PC) by flipping and selling my old stash of raw/low grade rookies.

6 - Open minimal wax. Should be easy but always needs a reminder hah.

I think my 2020 goal of getting my traders organized was a success. After a hiatus from really selling/trading, I needed to get back to some organization.

For 2021 I want to do 3 major things

1. Move out all non PC cards to fund other projects (maybe even a few smaller PC pieces too)

2. Continue with my Cut HOF auto project. Its a costly one, but has brought the fun back into it for me.

3. Break way less wax and put that money into the HOF collection.

Solid goals right here.

Goals for the upcoming year:

1) Score a key graded RC for the PC (Vezina or Howe)
2) Photo archive my cards, not just the graded ones
3) Stop breaking wax boxes and just buy the cards I like (may break this one for Metal)
4) Keep a positive attitude with the hobby
5) It's just a hobby so have fun!

These are from last year:

1) I'd like to create a nameplate of my last name with autographed cards.
This is complete, though two are still in the mail, one of them being a much delayed COMC shipment, so I hope to have it in hand by the end of February. My name is 12 letters, so I simply found one a month.

2) Get organized - I moved just over 2 years ago, and most of my collection has simply been sitting around. Now that I've settled in, it's time to get some shelves and/or display cases to store everything.

I'd say things look better...

Before

After

3) I've got all Scott Stevens cards through 1993-94, so I'd like to grab what I'm missing from 1994-95. This consists of 32 cards.
Got 31 out of 32. Wasn't able to find the 1994-95 Pinnacle Artist's Proof.

4) I like trying to put together master sets (or as close to it as possible). A few years ago I started retroactively with 1990-91 Upper Deck. I'm about halfway through 1994-95 and 1995-96, so I'd like to make as much progress as I can.
Continued to make progress with 1994-95, but some of the remaining Predictors and Electric Ice cards are proving hard to find.

5) Speaking of master sets, I'm 94 cards away from completing 2000-01 Aurora, so I'd like to make a lot of progress with that as well. There are still enough out there to grab right now before I just have to wait and get lucky for the remaining cards.
Down to 68, so progress was made, but I'm now limited to what I'm actually able to find.

My 2021 goals are pretty boring since they're largely a continuation of 2020.
1) I'll shift my concentration on Scott Stevens cards from 94/95 to 95/96. I have 91 cards on my 95/96 checklist, 64 of which I already own, so I'll be looking for the remaining 27.

2) While shelving has improved my floor space, I've fallen behind on pages and binders. I've got about 4 cards lying around that I'd like to get sorted, though this is also a matter of availability, since I think the supply market is great affected by the pandemic.

3) Continue with the 1994-95 Upper Deck master set project. Start 1995-96, Series 2.

4) Continue with the 2000-01 Aurora master set project.

5) I enjoyed the monthly goal of finding a nameplate card. While my nameplate is complete, I'd like to keep going with something else. Maybe a 2005-06 single from the Cup (or any high-end set that I already have some singles from) or a 90s insert. We'll see!

Finally, if anyone may be able to help with my master set projects, my needs can be found here. Thanks, and Happy 2021!

Hello for all.

My goal is getting to know what this "card" looks like and perhaps get it:

1998-99 Blackhawks Chicago Sun - Times #3 Doug Gilmour (Full-page color player profiles).

No joke! Also I can use some old baddies from my wantlist.

Those Full Page profile prints from newspapers are soooo tough to find. Someone probably has a cutout of one somewhere, though.

This isn't what you're looking for sadly, but I tried searching for it and came across this Hawks Team Issued set from 1999:

Hope this helps let you know the existance of something to complete your Dougie checklist.

I did the same Travis... really enjoying it now that I'm back.
Let's get a deal going!
Michael.

^ Now that is an impressive stash of cards!

Nice job with the organizing. Looks fantastic.

Might be impressive in terms of quantity. But it's largely a pile of base sets. My better stuff was already stored away. Actually, I cheated and a number of those sets are Topps baseball factory sets, so I hope that doesn't get me kicked off this forum. There's still plenty of hockey in there!

For a few weeks ago, I´m looking att that (don´t know how many times I tried it in the pass) missing Gilmour "card" and I ran into that same Coca-Cola card. I don´t think it´s the card what I´m looking for, but I´m not sure.

Thanks for help anyway!
