gotta love johnny bowers....kinda wish he woulda been a hab but we had no where to put him....coulda made him a d-man i guess...comedic relief on the bench?
i dont know how you can say this......i have no doubt that scott stevens could have played in the six team league but he would at best have been an average playerm and he would'nt have taken liberties like he did in a 30 team league...if he hit bobby hull or gordie howe like he did lindros or kariya they woulda got up and killed him
Maple Leafs
Centre- Sittler
Left Wing- Frank Mahovlich
Right Wing- Lanny McDonald- although he enjoyed more success post Leafs
Defense
Tim Horton- shutting em' down
Borje Salming- carrying the mail
Goal
Johnny Bower
Dan.
Yaaaaaaaaaaay no Sundin!

Yeah, good luck topping that.
I would put my Flames like this:
Goal:
Mikka Kiprusoff
Backup Mike Vernon
Defensive Pairings:
Al Macinnis Dion Phaneuf
Gary Sutor Paul Reinhart
Robyn Regehr Jamie Macoun
Left Wing:
Gary Roberts
Jim Peplinski
Martin "The Eliminator" Gelinas (for nostalgic reasons)
Cory Stillman
Right Wing (The Flames strongest historic position):
Jarome Iginla
Lanny Mcdonald
Theoren Fleury
Brett Hull (Man its tough to leave Joe Mullen off the list)
Center:
Joe Nieuwendyk
Kent Nilsson
Hakan Loob
Doug Gilmour
Just show'in my age buddy!!!!
I saw Gordie play - and when he was still pretty damn good!!!!
About 8 or 9 seasons worth - and if it were between Godie and anyone, I would take him!!!! I was fortunate to have talked to him at our rink after our practices and before his - and he just loved to talk to us!!!!
But on the ice - I really cannot recall another player that was given as wide a berth as Howe was.

Also where's Joel Otto on this list..![]()
Shanahan and Forsberg. Close, with Shanahan taking a slight edge.
I'm pretty sure Marko's LA lineup does. I'd even go so far as to argue that the Detroit lineup does too.
I'll add my Canucks lineup here in amongst my smug comment
Goalie: Roberto Luongo
Left wing: Markus Naslund
Center: Mark Messier
Right Wing: Pavel Bure
Defense: Willie Mitchell
Defense: It's a tossup between Jovo, Ohlund, Lidster, Bieksa and Iron sled Dave Babych, among others. If I had to settle on one, I'd say Mattias Ohlund.
It's tough to leave out the likes of hometown heroes like Trevor Linden, Cliff Ronning and Kirk McLean, and even a guy like Cam Neely but the thread was asking to ice a line per position...so yeahI think Bure in his prime outdoes Neely and Linden.
With apologizes to Shanny fans but how does he take a slight edge over a player who at one time was the best in the NHL if not the World?
Penguins:
Fleury
Coffey/Gonchar
Lemieux/Jagr/Francis
fleury over barrasso?
Barrasso had many great seasons with the Pens, dont know if I would put Fleury over him
Same... doesn't Barasso have some hardware at home that Fleury does not? :stanley::stanley:
