Mitchell is gone for sure from the sounds of it - sad to see him go as I was always a big fan.
Just watched a TSN video and they seem to think that this sets Vancouver up to trade Bieksa to try and get some secondary scoring help - we shall see.

Would love the Wings to get Mitchell but I think he's out of their price range.. :( How's his head anyway?

Jokinen to Calgary is done. 2 year $6M. Sutter is trying to lure Gilmour and Fleury next...

Vancouuver signs Hamhuis (hopefully)...Calgary signs JOKEinen...this day just keeps getting better.

So Calgary fans...WTF is Sutter doing to your team? What a horrible, horrible signing. He sucked the first time around...so re-sign him? Amazing.

Joikinen would probably be a really good pick up for that price for any other team BUT Calgary. I don't really understand what that signing is all about.

I love how people are crapping on Meszaros. He was a 30 point Dman on Ottawa paired with Chara. Goes to a hockey hellhole like TB and sucked. Go figured because the rest of the team around him were no better.

I think you made my point for me. You are happy having a 30 point d-man at his best (paired with Chara) and paying him $4, $4, $4.75, and $5 million for the next 4 years, all that money to be a "complimentary player" who has decent numbers as long as the team around him is better? More power to you, I'd rather spend less money on a guy like Wizzer, Grebeshkov, Corvo, Pothier, or take a run at Willlie Mitchell. But hey, to each his own.

As a Flames fan I will be very happy to see a Canucks team minus Mitchell and Bieksa. So will Jarome Iginla.

The Mitchell of old is never going to be back tragically - thanks Malkin - I would love to have had that grit back on the point. Bieksa is around for now and I, for one, hope to keep him. Either way, there is some sandpaper in both Ballard and Hamhuis that should give you another couple of enemies moving into next year.

Adam Burish to Dallas 2yrs, 1.15M per year
Matt Cullen to Minnesota 3yrs, 3.5M per year
Andrew Raycroft to Dallas 2yrs, no term
Jeremy Reich to Boston 1yr., no term

I've wanted to get rid of Bieksa for a while now. He just plays dumb. He has good skill, but would rather try to intimidate people, and take dumb penalties. Reminds me of years ago with Adrian Aucoin. He has one hot year, and everyone thinks he is the next Norris trophy winner. We could have dumped him then, and got a someone good in return. Instead, we hang on and his value plummets than BP stocks. Too make matters worse...when he is finally traded, we got Dan Cloutier in return :badmood:
