A bit of a long shot

I got approval from Jeremy, so we're good to go, once I touch base with Wayne. I will PM everyone here who volunteered to help once I get Wayn's paypal address. I'll probably start a new thread in a couple forums, but I will link that thread here in a post. Thanks everyone. Let's put a smile on these kids faces? If there is anything left over after collecting from everyone, I'm thinking it could go back to the site? Thoughts?

I'd like to see it go towards a children's hospital myself.

We can do that, too. We'll see what others say. As another option, we can keep it open till Christmas, and then donate the extra funds to a charity, or hospital etc? Make A Wish, Christmas Cheer, Food Bank etc. Let's see how it goes!

Still waiting for Wayne to respond to my PM in regards to his paypal address. I will PM everyone interested in helping as soon as I get it.

The one young fellow (Squigs, gets it on all the autographs he gets) is a customer of mine, mostly for framing. He had the Boogaard patch, so they apparently lost everything else. I had taken them over to show Quincy, but he was gone already. I don't think they set them down at the HI booth (which is where we were), but I have no clue where they went. The other young lad's mom bought a card from us and was short a few bucks, so I told her to bring it by the store when she had a chance

I would be happy to headman this and acquire the boxes. Two of them with the taxes would run around $140 all in. I'll kick in $20 myself. Let me know if it's something you'd like to do and I can take the money (I have two boxes on hand) and we can post some pictures of the kids getting their surprise.

Thanks!

Wayne, when you place the order to replace, tell them to put one on my account. Thanks, Scott

I don't know what my internet access will be like for the next 8 days, but I'd be willing to throw in a few $$$ at end of next week.

I'd be more than happy to chip in with $10-15 or so. Can you shoot me a PM when you have details please?

HI has a LONG history of helping others. This sort of thing puts the hope of a hobby back in the hearts of those kids. I'm in for $50 and if Wayne can't coordinate the funds, I'll step up to do it as the old HI owner.

I like the idea of donating the remainder to a food bank as the demand at Christmas is higher than the rest of the year.

Wow, Bruce! That is simply awesome, and thanks so much! Wayne must be busy, as I haven't heard back from him yet! I'll give the store a call, or drop by if I don't hear from him shortly. We can all send to you, and then you can send to him, I just thought one transaction each to Wayne made more sense with paypal fees etc. I do a lot of fantasy leagues, and paypal scoops $.88 cents on every $20 sent unless it's by gift. I'm not a fan of using the gift function, but in this case I don't mind at all.

In the next day, or two, I'll post another thread on what we would like to do with the leftover funds, because by the looks of it there will be quite a bit. Bruce is right, so many families struggle this time of year, not only getting presents for their kids, but feeding them, as well. With the cold weather on the way, increase costs for heat, and hydro put a strain on most families. We can't help everyone, but if we can help one family, or more that is great.

This has been, and will continue to be the best trading community on the internet. I'm so happy to be a small part of it.

Sorry, guys, I'm off on Wednesdays. I'm good for coordinating the efforts and I've read all the generosity here. It sounds like we will have far more than enough for the two boxes for Squigs and his buddy.

It will be easier for me to coordinate if funds are sent to my personal PayPal address. We get 50 or so payments a day at the store, so they could get all mixed in. If that works for everyone, let me know and I'll post my account email and start posting updates as to who has donated and how much we have so far.

Wayne, using the personal paypal is fine. Can you please post it here, and in the other thread for this project I've posted in the General Forums, plus give it to me, so I can PM it to all those who have posted an interest to donate? Thanks for doing this. Troy

You know, when I originally posted this I held out a little bit of hope that maybe someone had an insight on the missing boxes and we could possibly reunite the boys with their stuff. That is out the window but this has turned out soooo much better with all the amazing people that frequent these boards and their willingness to help. Seeing the excitement they had from ripping the boxes and finding out they had uncovered a 1/1 was great, they were smiling ear to ear. I really hope that the boys will get as much excitement with ripping these new boxes.

thats cool! we'll wait for the pm to send money.
in my mind buying Enforcers for kids is a bit odd but if it can put a smile on, I am all for it!

Hi guys! Still waiting on Wayne to provide us his paypal address. If he is too busy to collect the funds right now, Bruce (meatmancgy) said he would do it for us, then send them to Wayne to pay for the boxes. I'd really like to get going on this ASAP while it's still fresh on everyone's mind.
