A bit of a long shot

Guys, I think it's probably best to let Bruce spearhead the collection of the funds. I know there are stretches where I am off of here for 3-4 days at a time.

I would also like to see the development of a fund where when something like this happens, we can post and then dip into the fund. I would also be willing to contact the manufacturers to see if they would seed us with a few boxes that I can store here and then send out, or they could go to Bruce.

Let me know where we are at, and thanks!

I think that the fund idea is the best path for this to take. While the boys can get their boxes, there are still going to be left over funds that could be used in a positive way to help out less fortunate kids that frequent the hobby shops that are members to this site. Christmas is right around the corner and I'm sure that presenting some kids with a bundle of packs or a box would be a sure fire hit with a needy child.

I think we need to have a vote between those who donate. Personally, I'd prefer the funds go to a needy family who might be short on food rather than provide kids some packs - just my opinion of course

For those wishing to donate, my paypal is [email protected] - please send as GIFT and add $0.05 on the end so I know this is for this fundraiser! (i.e $20.05). Thanks all :)

Money sent B. My vote would be to donate the leftover funds to a childrens hospital or to a family in need. Usually local charities have a list of available donation options for families that are struggling, maybe kids with medical bills, etc. Either way, thanks for taking on this project.

Money sent I would vote to donate the balance to a children's charity of some sort whether it be Sick Kids Children's Hospital or a family in the community that could use the money.

The do "choose a family for Christmas" things out here, and I'm sure they'd have them in ON too. You basically pick a family, deck them out with food for the holidays and presents for the kids. It's pretty cool :)

Quoted Bruce's post so it's on this page. I will reminder PM everyone in this thread tonight with the info to send. I'm not sure who has so far, so if you get a PM, and have sent to Bruce already, just disregard.

Also, when you send to make it easier on Bruce, in addition to the extra .05 you could also put in the notes
"Operation Squigs"

I like the idea of helping the local food bank. There is a charity called Christmas Cheer that helps needy families at Christmas time, if they apply, but there are many families too proud to ask, and they quietly will rely on the food bank to get by. We can help many families by a donation to the food bank, rather than one, or two adopting them for Christmas. I'm fine whatever we decide to do.

Also, it wasn't brought up, and I know we frown on using paypal gift on Hobby Insider, but in this case because of what the site is doing, and it's Bruce with who'm we all trust 100%, we could overlook the no paypal gift rule for this only? Paypal takes .88 cents every $20 sent, so if we have 20 transactions then that is a nice sized turkey for some family we're wasting. Totally up to you guys. Just a thought?

Bumping this back up for more donations. I'll be sending a little donation as soon as my fantasy nascar league payouts are made. I should have a little left in my paypal account to send Bruce's way. Thanks to all that have donated!

Just saw this post for the first time.

I have an idea. Let me donate the two boxes for the kids who lost them and let all the donations go to a good charity, perhaps The Hospital For Sick Children in Toronto, a great institution.

Your thoughts.
