If the early releases are any indication of where the hobby values Matthews compared to McDavid expect around $100-150. The MVP #1 redemption is going for $100-150, McDavid was 3-4x that last year. The Artifacts redemption can be had for $50-75 whereas McDavid was $200+ at this time last year. There are a lot of Leaf fans out there but they don't tend to shell out big bucks for very much in my experience.

I still say $250-$300 opening. Us Leafs fans haven't had a rookie this this ever to spend money on! Plus this will be coming out Expo weekend where it will be the hottest card on the floor.

Guess we will have a S1 YG checklist by the end of the week after he debuts Wednesday.

He had a great first game but I still don't see his YG fetching over $200. McDavid had EVERYONE chasing his stuff, not just Leaf fans. Matthews may get some US love but that's about it. I hope I'm wrong though lol

Because he's in Toronto, we're going to hear about him incessantly through any form of hockey media. Matthews' debut last night is going to be talked about well into the S1 release, regardless of if continues strong. I think it's going to be more than just Toronto people all over him, but the Toronto people will be ravenous.

One thing that is different from this year to last is the ePack surprise; when everyone loaded up on Series 1, they had no idea another wave of cards was coming via ePack. Supply caught up with demand, etc.

But out of the gate, I'll be stunned if we don't see $250 sales.

McDavid's are "yesterday's news" and have had a year on the market to settle out as collectors scooped up their copies. Rest assured Matthews will sell like hot cakes out of the gate as a massive army of Leaf fans all try to get their hands on the card. It'll be as high if not higher than McDavid's YG was at release.
