While I agree with keeping the label. I don't think ITG is going to reseal a card that has been completely broken out. They'd have no way of verifying the memorabilia hasn't been tampered with.

Damaged holders I can see. If the seal is still intact. They may also reslab base and non-GU cards as they wouldn't have been tampered with.

They did reslab some for me already, they told me I needed the label though otherwise they wouldn't have since there is no way to find out which card of the print run you have!!!!
 
PSA, KSA, Beckett removal?

Hello, as I search everyday for new Backstroms for my PC, I notice some of the ones i'm constantky searching for are in the KSA slabs. I was wondering if you could remove the cards without damaging them?

How to bust a Beckett graded card slab?

I have a Beckett graded card who is unfortunately damaged on the slab and it's no idea to resending ti beckett for a new replacement slab because the card itself is waay more valuable ungraded...

But I'm worried to destroying the card during the process of opening up the slab....

Please give me any tip or something about how to open that slab, if there're any movs or pics about how to opening would be fantastic then.

use pliers to bust the very top edge where the tag is until you can get a flat head screw driver between the two layers of plastic. Then gently pry around the edge to separate the two. The card is usually in a sealed plastic bag too, just cut that open with scissors

Put the vise grip on the upper corners and twist/break the upper part of the slab, ussually one shot on both corners + all the upper part on top of the card.After with a flat screwdriver you pop open the slab in 2 parts.

If its a BGS slab the tricky part is taking the card out of its pouch, i put the pouch in a top loader that fits it, cut the top edged whit an exacto, pull open the corners and take the card out.

If its a psa slab just slam it on the ground.:laugh:

This guy summed it up perfectly. I would recommend not using the hammer I use to do that. Even though it worked it was a lengthy process. The vice grip and bending it back and forth takes me less than one minute. Then I pry the thing up with my hands just enough so the card can slide out.
 
Who has had success taking card out of Graded Slab?

I thought there was a Thread posted abt this..
I was wondering if there were any numbers who have had success with taking a card out of a Graded Slab?

And if so which kinds slab PSA or BGS

I'm thinking of buying a Rookie that gas been graded in a PSA Slab though want yo take the card out of Slab

If any one had had success with any kind of slab please post

You could also use a sidecutter or wirecutters. Cut at a 45 degree angle on one of the label side, about 1/2" in from the corner. Break off the corner, get a flat screwdriver, and twist the screwdriver. It will not require much effort, and be aware that the card can fly out if you're not careful. So pry slowly, and get a good grip on the card holder. Good luck!
 
I was just going to post something about this ad well. I gave a Mike Comrie Titanium retail /199 that is BGS 8.5 that I wanted to bust out of the slab. It's for a side PC of cards that used to be very high dollar cards and can be had for pennies on the dollar, so I am not looking to increase resale value? Just think it would look better in a one touch with the others currently in this small but growing PC.

Do these methods work the same for either grading company?
 
Write cutters to cut the top corner above the label. Then work a flat head screw driver across the top edge. Watch out for splintering of the case and put the case on a table to avoid dropping.
 
Breaking open Beckett BGS cases?

I have a few cards graded either BGS9 or BGS9.5 that I want to break out of the slabs. What is the easiest way to do it without risking damage to the card? I know PSA holders are easy to pop open along the edges with a small screwdriver or knife but Beckett holders seem to be a bit tougher.

Any suggestions?

Pair of snips. Cut the top corners and top edge. Flathead screw driver insert and twist. It take a fair bit of pressure, but I've removed 10+ with no effect. With screw driver, insert twist, slIde over a bit repeat

Why would you crack a 9.5 bgs though?

Not sure on why you would break out a 9.5 But like above cut corner with snips . Also just go on youtube tons of video's on it.
 
Why break out a 9.5? If you are looking to resubmit the card in hopes of getting one of those nifty new BGS 10 holders, I suspect they'd be willing to pull the card and reassess at the same time. It might keep the card safer. I cringe at this idea though as, if someone got ahold of your throw away plates, they could fake a graded card and the numbers all look right (but the card isn't the one graded). All we need now is another fake patch scandal for graded cards...
 
Well if you have something like an insert or a patch card graded a 9.5 it's not a big deal if you break it considering the value isn't much different if any at all.

This topic comes up every 3-4 months search for the thread here on the hobby talk there's all sorts of options on it to bust open. Me personally I cut the overlap off from the back and than pry it up with a paint chipper.
