Crack Them Slabbed Cards Open

the card is booked at 250, with a grade of 8 and the auto is graded at a 10, so now i have some ideas of how to removi it, do u think ist worth removeing? i dont think this will be a pc card.

What's a good way to crack a BGS holder?

I have one card that seems out of place in the PC, and was tempted to break it out of the BGS holder. Is there a good way to go about this without damaging the card? Please advise if you have done this and what would be the best way with just everyday household items. Thanks!

I never plan on getting rid of any of my PC cards, I should really crack mine open.

I did take one out because there were several cracks in the surface, but reslabbing costs too much, and the scan I got of it is a lot better than any of the other ITG slabbed cards.

I just might do it.

Based on my slab-cracking experience, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the card and the slab are two totally separate and distinct objects.

Pliers, and twist the top two corners off then flat screw driver the rest. Messing up the registry is awesome

this is the method I always use.

graded cards out of cases?

Does anybody know if there is a way to take cards out of the BGS cases once they are slabbed? I know this sounds weird but I was just curious if it is possible.

If they were easy to open, people would be swapping out cards in them all the time. Hammer and chisel, and safety googles for flying case parts

its a real pain to do and there is a chance of damaging the cards, I think I used pruning shears and chipped away on the top edge for a while, like the guy above mentioned wear glasses or something to protect you eyes I got nailed with a piece of plastic in the eye but luckily i was squinting at the time so no harm done

Does anybody know if you can send the cards back to Beckett to get de-slabbed? I doubt it but thought I should ask anyway.

I have used a screw driver and a hammer in each of the 4 corners of the slab,then pried the slab open with the screw driver, never damaged a card.

i have done it a few times with 0 issues. use snips to cut the two top corners off. use a flathead screwdriver insert and twist to open the case up

takes 2 or 3 minutes being careful

What do you mean snips? What exactly should I ask for at the hardware store? You just cut the corners off of the plastic case with them?

Chip the corner and peel the case apart, also great for relieving stress.

Hammer with the case just off the edge of a table or something (but avoid hitting near the card).

Myself I used a hacksaw and cut off just the top portion where the sticker is stating the grade then as others have said used a flat head screwdriver and twisted it to pry open the case. Done it several times and nothing damaged yet.
